10/06 Portland meet up

Just wanted to say thanks to the guys who came out to Blitz 99W last night. I sure didn't hold up my end of any conversations, but I learned a whole lot by listening to the various conversations going on. In 20 minutes, I learned more from Craig & Jammer talking about anchoring around sturgeon holes and how various sinkers work, than I could from reading 5 dozen posts and an hour of watching videos. Insayn is fun and extremely talented and knowledgeable in several areas - one of those guys you can't know too many of. Lingbanger and DTS were good too. Aytchr was the other FNG and his enthusiasm was great, and his Ipad really useful. And thanks to Rawkfish for securing a table early - that place got pretty packed with Duck fans. (Hope I didn't leave anybody out.)

Thanks again for showing up and being welcoming to the new guys - you all are what make NWKA a great group.

It was a blast talking about fishing techniques.  I am also proud to announce that NWKA represented well in the bar trivia later in the evening.  We were in last place going into the final question worth 15 points.  The leader was more than 25 points ahead. It was a five part question and you either added 15 points to your score or lost 15 points. Team NWKA laid it all on the line and came out victorious in the end.  We now have $20 in Blitz bucks for the next meeting, if it is held there.

The meeting last night was super, Sherminator got it right, learned more in a few hours than weeks of pouring over forums, etc.

I changed my name on the site to IslandHoppa as that's been my moniker on the Hobie forums and some folks visit both.

Eight in attendance last night as follows:

I'm always up for having someone join me on a fishing venture, there's plenty of room on my Tandem Island or we can each take our yaks.

Great group with lots of experience. I appreciate all the advice and comments. Looking forward to seeing you all next month if not sooner.

Dam I hate it when work gets in the way of having fun. Missed out on a good time I am sure. Since I work 24 hr every third day it seems like all the good stuff always happens on my shift day.

Sounds like it was a great time. I am sorry I had to miss it. I sure hope I can make it next!

Damn straight! That is what she is doing right now amongst other things she wants to do!  That is why I have the pleasure of not being fishing this morning and am currently watching the kids.  I guess I should have used your phone when I had the chance.   
Actually, my wife was very cool with it.  No shopping for home goods necessary.     I guess there happened to be a pretty grisly accident up by a location I routinely work at.  When I didn't show up at home at 10:30 pm, like after most of these get togethers I have been at, she called my cell phone, which I forgot at work.  After several attempts with no answer and me being an hour later than normal, she was understandably a little concerned.

Nice to meet the new fellas, and glad you guys got some useful info nuggets. Would have been a bummer to trek down from Camas for nothing.

Thanks Rawk for holding the table, I had to park at the bank across the street. If we hit that venue again we'll have to do it during a Beaver game so we can have the place to ourselves. :-)

Congrats on the trivia victory, wish I could have stayed, but I'm pleased to report the FF install is completed! If I don't hook up any fish at the U-Da-Man at least I'll look cool. ;-)

I'd hate to hear what kind of trouble you'd be in for letting a bill go overdue and result in a late charge.

You mean that isn't my man card?    My wife made me give her mine once and when I got it back, she said I could also use it at the library.
