Squidding?

Have any of you guys been squidding? Want to go some night in Seattle this week? I have a super cool spotlight...

Janni and I stopped at the Edmonds pier on Sunday evening. Saw a couple caught, but were skunked  ourselves.

Best reports I've heard in the Seattle area (a few limits), were the Elliott Bay pier and on the waterfront near the Aquarium.

I almost bought a cheap inverter at Costco, tonight. Been thinking about dragging a battery, inverter and light to the pier. The guys at the Edmonds pier were using a loud little generator.

 Are you talking about Humboldt?

I believe the squid in Puget Sound are Loligo opalescens a.k.a. the common squid, opal squid, or sometimes market squid.  They only grow to be about a foot long.

I was really just curious if they made it all the way up there this year?
We had a pretty good run of Humboldt Squid for a week or so in Pelican Bay here at the Ca/Or Border.
Salmon trollers were picking them up!
Might be a tough thing to land in the Yak!
 I think it is very unusual for them to be this far up ,no?

They've been sighted off not only WA, but also AK. (I recall one washing up on a beach in Puget Sound!) Presence seems to depend on warmer currents and a decrease in other top predators.
