Check out this video of a guy in a kayak catching a huge octopus from his kayak.Pretty awesome.
On the same page is a video of a trout angler getting ripped off by an eagle...it's pretty cool too.

    No sir,
I didn't know that was Zee.I do look forward to increasing my social network in the coming year(s).
A quick question...did he land that thing ????It's freaking humungous. There is no way I'd bring that aboard a yak or a power boat for that matter.Way too many suckers and it had to have a big beak .

And people laughed at me here in Alaska when I said one of my goals this year was to battle a big octopus from a kayak!  lol.  1 million plus hits?  wow!

Unsuccessful this year but it's till on the list.  My crab jig awaits....

I imagine that Zee and Spot would agree that the biggest battle was killing it while it was next to the boat.  What a pain in the arse!  You have to have a game plan if you actually want to hook one of those.

"PLAN" ?? What is this unfamiliar English term you speak of?

Seriously, what the heck fun is that?!?!?!

Okay a little more seriously...The burlap bag is a good idea but frankly i was just going to harpoon the heck out of it, keep stabbing it with the non pointy part of the harpoon once the point is in, net it, and hope it doesn't render my mirage drive immobile.  I think if I was anywhere near shore, I was thinking how cool would it be to come back to the dock and deal with an octopus strapped to the bottom of your kayak and dispatch it right there?!?!  lol.

I'll have to re-read that thread.

Anything that size like zee got would be the end of my day.  Sort of like catching a 100 pound halibut.  At least I'd come in once...lol.

18 below!  But its warmed up considerably in the last hour at Big Lake.  Holy Cow!  -6 now...gotta to go fish!

Dang, dat's cold.

Apparently (from the infinite wisdom of the youtube comments :D) there is some ancient manly trick where you bite the thing between the eyes but on the back of the head and it dies really quickly.  I'd do a little more research on the validity of that before you put too much stock in it though.  Maybe browse through some spearfishing forums.

I heartily thank Mark and Scott (Spot,Kykfshr) for helping bag this sucker. I'd of been in major trouble had I been on my own. Undoubtedly, it would have taken hours. Even with 3 of us it took over 20 minutes.

Yeah, there are a lot of redditers that put that kind of stuff up.  My favorite meme reference so far is "NOPE... Chuck Testa!"
