I will be there at 8:30.  Unless there are people going earlier.  I don't have a problem with an earlier departure. I will bring a salmon rod for steelhead.  Also, I am bringing a lighter rod for perch, just in case.

I thought that we would hit a few holes along the way.  Add an hour on to the drive down. 2 hours from the start. 10:30 to 11:00? Sound about right?

Doesn't sound like it Aytch. Its 10:40pm as I write and I'm just getting in and figuring out what all is going on. Apparently I should have checked in earlier as I don't have time to get an Oregon Angling License. I think what I'll do is go ahead and meet you guys at Netart as well. I'll probably leave early as originally planned, but skip Fred Meyers since it sounds like you guys will be on the road, chasing Steelhead. Not certain what time I'll be to Netart, but will be around the boat launch, maybe even sleeping until others show up. You've got my number and feel free to call in the morning. I won't be checking the Forum again after this. See you guys down there.

Well, we're not feasting on Dungies tonight but we did have a lot of fun. SteveHawk took us to one of his favorite steelhead holes on the Wilson where he taught Craig and I how to use salmon eggs and a bobber to target them in the holes. I got a hit on my first cast but was totally unprepared to deal with it, didn't see the hit and completely biffed on it. I'll be back...

We hit Netarts around noon, right at low tide. CastIronTrout was already there soaking his rings. We tried all over the place and mostly were bringing up Red Rock Crabs and Female Dungies. Only got one keeper from the iHop and Craig got one.

Met, Dan (IndyFlyer) for the first time.

I'll post a few more pics later, gotta get some sleep.

Oops, forgot to mention KevBro joined us out there, too. Sorry about that, chief! You guys are probably too young to know who used to say that...

Glad to see some sun in your pics!

So when you guys caught Red Rock Crabs, did you keep em? They may not be as desirable as Dungees' but besides their thick shells and really nasty disposition they are tasty. Their claws especially are really good!

Didn't get enough Red Rocks to be worth it so we returned them to the bay. They do have an amazing grip! I wear neoprene gloves, I'm to old to regrow appendages.

Here are a few pictures of the event.

The NWKA flotilla along with some other crabbers

It was a beautiful day out on the water.  Nice and calm.  I even got a little sunburned.  I believe Stevehawk's words were, as he was kicking back on the tandem island, "This is the life."

This crab was really chewy! It had several extra legs, though! Score!  I figured the soft shell was because it was molting. :)

We all caught several of these big females.  It is a little disappointing to pull a heavy ring full of big crab only to flip them all over and see they are all female.

A beautiful day turned into a beautiful evening followed by the sun setting behind the Island of Hoppa.

I also learned that saltwater and Li ion AA batteries do not mix well.  They turn brown and foamy.
