OK, some of us are going to "See Spot Run" at his Hillsboro seminar Thursday night. We're planning to meet at 7:30 AM in Hillsboro at Fred Meyer's and do some Crabbing and Fishing at Netart's Bay before heading back up to Hillsboro for the seminar.

So far I think we've got CastIronTrout, SteveHawk, KevBro and IslandHoppa. Who else is up for it?

Looks like you guys will have a decent tide on Thursday.  Not much of an exchange with a morning high and a mid afternoon low.  You might think of doing a little clamming while your pots soak.  Bay has seen lots of pressure  (at least 30 boats on Saturday/parking lot full) with Tillamook Bay being washed out with the recent big rains but I talked to two crabbers at the ramp on Saturday afternoon (3ish) and they did "ok"  one had 8 for 3 pots and one had a limit and a half for 7 pots, both had been crabbing since early morning.

Thanks, Ron, that's better than we did at Nehalem. Any other tips?

I launch at the boat launch by the restaurant (can't remember the name).  I may be able to make it.

OK, looks like time to firm up the plans for Netarts. So far I believe the crew will consist of

iHop
CastIronTrout
KevBro
SteveHawk
Insayn
Craig
IndyFlyer

Please confirm who's coming and vote for a time to meet at Fred Meyer's in Hillsboro (off 26). There have been two possible meetup times proposed: 7:30 or 9:45 to avoid rush hour. Looks like it takes about 1.5 hours from Fred Meyer's to Netarts. Add 30 minutes to launch, we need to leave Hillsboro about 2 hours before we want to start crabbing. When do we want to be crabbing? Based on tides when should we hit the launch?

Other question: what can we fish for there and what's the best tackle and lures/spoons/bait to catch them? I will bring either my Salmon rod or spinning rod.

Any advice on where to fish, where to crab and where to avoid? Depths, channels, etc.?

Thanks to you pros for any suggestions.

Here is a map of  the bay that shows crabbing areas:
http://www.dfw.state.or.us/MRP/shellfish/maps/Netarts.asp

Netarts is closed to Salmon, Steelhead and trout fishing.

I prefer the later meet time, I'll be joining the group at Netarts, I'm coming from the southerly route through Hebo.

I am fine with the later meet up time. Let's plan to be leaving FM around 9:45 and not meeting at that time. It can take a while to organize and consolidsate rigs to hit the road.

Not sure how I was added to the list.  I didn't have any plans of going to Netarts this week,... sorry.   :-\

On a side note.... what are your plans for your catch between boat ramp exit and the end of the Bottom fishing lecture in Hillsboro?
If you haven't already thought this out, you may want to consider popping all their heads and pre cleaning them prior to leaving the parking lot.
Just put in plastic bags and on ice.  Can be cooked as much as in a few days as long as they stay fridge cold.

Sorry, Insayn, guess I'm getting Senyl... :banjo:

Ndogg, too bad, maybe you should try retirement, it's working for me  ;D

Yep, that's exactly what my plan was, bring a cooler, clean them at the ramp and put 'em in Ziplocks on ice until we're home that night. That Noggin' Poppin' technique is so quick and easy, love it!
