  Hey John,
Thanks for putting out the real story.Awesome ................
I wish I'd been closer to see for myself--but wasn't, so your report with all the details helps fill in a lot of gaps..

  Great job.

I got to re-live the fight when I wrote it up at lunch today. That was pretty fun for me! I am glad you enjoyed the report.

Good report pdxf.  I'll definitely give my "snags" some extra attention in the future based on your experience.

Yhanks DC, I am going to pay more attention to snags as well. I have lost 2 or 3 rigs to snags in that area this fall, now I wonder....

Great write-up John.  You did us proud.  We were worried that the contest would be won by a sub-keeper sized fish.  You fixed that!
Great write-up.  Something tells me this is a fish tale you are never going to forget.

Thanks guys. You two made the capturing of the finale possible. Thanks to you Nat for running downstream and thanks to you both for coming back.

Not to worry Craig, even if I had run out of luck (I dread my luck for the next few years!) and lost that fish Nat had a 39" fish so a legal would have won anyway!

PDX that's a great story. It put a smile on my face and I had to chuckle placing the picture of it in my minds eye. I have written a few article's that have been published in Fire Dept magazines and your story and some pictures would make a great story for a fishing Mag. It has all the elements that make a good tail, adventure, drama, excitement, comedy and triumph. Thanks John it made my day. And anytime you want to go to the upper willy and do some bass fishing it would be my pleasure.

Thanks firebunker23! You can bet I will be pinging you for some upper willy smallmouth fishing come springtime! Hopefully we can get you into some sturgeon in the meantime.

Spot, Zee,
is this the largest fish caught by a member this year?
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

Oh yeah, we will get to do a ton of SMB fishing come this spring Dave.

I am really enjoying and looking forward to seeing the seasons progress this year while fishing in my kayak. So many new experiences waiting to be had. Plus, I will not lie,
so far fall has been pretty sweet!

I've got my time-compressed 2 minute video of about 90% of the fight. It was taken from a fixed point about midway between the up river and down river extremes of the battle. I'll make a few annotations on YouTube and open it to the public and post the link shortly.

It would be great to add SteveHawk's closeups and Craig's shots of the grand finale, is there a way to seamlessly link two YouTube videos?

You can use my video on Youtube, or I can edit another of just John and the fish in real time and Slo-mo.

I told you I don't do nudes! At least, not of dudes.   I will send you a link to all the pictures I got.  Actually, all the pictures I got of you were pulled from the video.  I didn't get a chance to get my camera out.  It all happened so fast.
