Assuming the forecast holds, I'll be headed out for a few hours on Saturday with a ring net for some bugs. I haven't caught many legal dungees but theres just a ton of tasty red rock crabs. Its the last day of crabbing season till the summer and new years is always better with fresh crab!

Any South Sounders interested in meeting up?

I'm too far away here in Camas to make it this week but where are you launching? Hope to expand my fishing and crabbing horizons in 2012, particularly in Puget Sound next summer.

Hoping to shoot for steelhead and Dungies at Nehalem estuary in a week or so.

I want to go crabbing, but not sure north or south. Where do you plan on launching/crabbing?

Nisqually or Boston Harbor (Olympia).

I went out today and got some big rock crabs. One of em clamped down on the handle of my dive bag (bottom picture) and wouldn't let go for at least 10 minutes!

Nice looking crab there micahgee. That's a great way to end a year.Enjoy the eating......and Happy New Year.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Thanks Mark, Happy New Years to you.

It was a relatively sunny and calm day on the Sound, awesome way to wrap up a season.

Better it clamped down on your bag, rather than your thumb!
That's a biggun for sure and would hurt like hell.

What was your total score for the day?

I only kept 2 big guys but about half a dozen on two 10-15min soaks. All rock crabs in about 120 FOW.

Their claws are really delicious.
