So I just realized last that I live less than 10 minutes for island lake...   Even better its open all year round for fishing.  Now for the great part,  they stock large rainbows!!!  My hobie PAs will hopefully be here in about a week, and thinking about making that area my maiden voyage.  Any ideas.?  Also caught my first SRC at a beach also, only about 10 minutes away with my wife.  Speaking of my PAs.  What would be the first accessories you would get for these kayaks?  Wheels,  VHF, GPS/ fishfinder, anchor trolly, drift sock, rod holders, ect.  I don't have an unlimited bank account, but want to take advantage of the 15% off upon initial sale.

Unless you only plan on launching at boat ramps I would go with some wheels.  After that my choices would be a fishfinder and rod holders.

I agree with Ndogg. First buy the things that increase the amount of places and times you can use your PA. Next in priority buy things that make you more effective. Finally buy things that make things nicer. Wheels greatly increase the places you can fish. That is top priority. A drft sock is a luxury. PA has plenty of rod holders. VHF is required for going out in the ocean. A depth finder is a very useful tool. You catch more fish with it. I would buy this second.

However, before you listen to me, listen to all the comments and make your decision. There are a lot of really smart folks here with a lot of useful experiences.

Ok here is my list this is what I bought for my Outback from the day I bought it moving forward to today.

1. Before I walked out of Next Adventure I bought Turbo fins, Large rudder, Wheeles.
2. A new PFD for fishing out of my Yak
3. FF a Eagle Cuda 350.
4. Battery's to run said Cuda.
5. VHF Marine Radio.
6. Made up an Anchor system.
7. Made rod leashes.
8. 3 extra buckets for fishing gear.
There are other things I still want to get like a gearbox for the back of my kayak. 2 rod holders. And I am sure I could think of other things but that's the short list. Hope this helps.

So I have one set of wheels.  I'm gonna pick up one more when I pickup the yaks.  I also have the pfds.  Need the rod holders and ff.  Any favorites?  I have seen the dual holders for rods and ff.  What is the best anchor trolly set you guys have seen made or bought?

Just took a quick trip up to island lake today just to scout around a bit.  Lake was nice, but partially frozen.  Only one person really fishing.  I watched him miss a nice take just with power bait on a bobber.  Nice boat ramp for yaks.  Very clear.  Can't wait to get my yak and get on the water.  I have the itch

I like to fly fish lakes. I'm here on the coast, and I have to drive a ways to get to any good ones. The one I usually hit in winter is frozen over right now. Its not bad, but its 62 miles from here and up in the foothills.
My local fave is seasonal, but is a decent lake to fly fish for trout, since it has shallow flats and dropoffs. Its only 38 miles from my place. I'll be there often starting the end of April. My spring fishing is usually for trout in lakes or here along the Jetty for the bottom fish.  By mid July, I'm hunting in the estuaries and tidal creeks for the searun cutts. I find some now and then, and I always enjoy the paddling.

I bought a fishfinder gps then a nice tackle bag that is convenient for grabbing gear behind me. It's got 4 trays that I've color coded so when I reach around I know what's in what and which one to grab. Just mounted ram mounts on 'er last weekend.not sure what's next... Maybe the hobie sail system.
Good luck fishing
