Which is better, given the rigors of yak fishing, and why?

Reason I'm asking is that in a few months our 2 year contract with Wild Blue will be up and we're considering going with some form of broadband service for our home internet connection (we're rural enought that cable or DSL is not an option  :'().  Since most of the major cell phone companies have broadband packages available, and if you bundle cell phone service (with or without data plans) it's usually cheaper than different companies for each, determining which type of phone to get will play a factor in which company we use for that service.

I like the apparent ruggedness and waterproofness of the Commando droid phone.  But SWMBO has a dislike for droid phones, and a preference for iPhones.  I couldn't care less about which platform I get.  I just don't want to have to treat it like it's a Faberge Egg or something, especially when I'm out fishing.

Now we are getting into religious territory   :)

I will say, is that your choice of phones is vast with an Android platform.  With the iPhone, it's just the iPhone.

The new Android Razor says it is water resistant - whatever that means.  You could always get a waterproof bag for an iPhone.

What is wrong with SWMBO (man card getting frayed?  ;) ) getting an iPhone and you an Android?   With iPhone now on Verizon and AT&T you could both have the same carrier.  Might depend on the broadband coverage in your area.

I have an iPhone. I think each platform has its own pluses and minuses. I think the thing you want to be most careful about is which carrier. I have Verizon because when I upgraded I got unlimited data. I believe Sprint is the only carrier with that now. Of course you need to make sure you have a strong signal to get a good data rate. At my house Verizon has by far the best signal as well.

Happy wife, happy life   .  Verizon (our current carrier) would of course allow for both, but neighbors' experience is that their broadband coverage in our area isn't that great.  And prices are pretty high.  AT&T and Sprint are an unknown.  T-Mobile (droid only) seems to have OK coverage, but that would need to be confirmed - and at least around Christmas their prices were pretty compelling.
