Looking for opinions here.   I like many others need to save gas.  I have put two cobra fish n dives on top of the sonata.  Still I wonder if it is just too much for the little gal to handle.    :-\     Chime in and let me know if any of you have done this or something similar.   I feal plenty safe carrying one kayak on its top but I need to be able to take two so that my boy can enjoy the adventures with me.   :)

Appreciate all feedback.  Good or bad.

Thanks!

Too much weight and you will end up with depressions where the rack mounts to your roof.  My solution?  Leave the racks on all the time.     Just make sure that you adjust your towers for the new shape after a while.

I take 3 yaks clear to the far east side of the state every year.  High speeds and winding corners haven't been a problem.  Just make sure that you have the bows tied down to your tow hooks.

I think you are ok so long as they are secure without much room to wobble etc and they aren't affecting the roof.  Maybe do some low speed close in road tests just to make sure before you hit the open road.  My Subaru has packed two fish and dives ;D

Here's a F'n'D, Jackson Coosa, and a Malibu X13 on my forester. I hadn't finished strapping them down when this pic was taken. I strapped them all down individually and put bow and stern lines on all 3. Not sure who it was, but I've seen pics on here of two pro anglers on a roof rack.

Guys thanks for the replies.  I just took it out for a spin around town and then out to dorman pond. It handled ok. I didn't find the load shifting much.  Sure does feel wrong to have that much kayak sticking up in the air.  Spot Thanks for the tip about the mounts shifting.  I hadn't thought about that.  I will be keeping an eye on it.  It does seem like with that much weight that something is bound to give somewhere.

Spot is being modest, DTS. If memory serves me well, his record for that Civic is actually a whopping 5 on the roof. Alkasazi also has done that many when he delivered to us at ORC'08..

Following you home today, the Cobra's didn't seam to have any effect on your car, nor did they sway.  Looks like you found a reasonable way to get to the water without firing up the van.
