Getting things going on the new kayak... 16" YakAttack GearTracs up front, and a pair of Mighty Mounts in the back (along with a 6" hatch to get them reinforced).

What do you think of the GearTracs so far?  Once Next Adventure gets them and other Yak Attack gear in stock I plan on adding a few GearTracs to my Revo.
Also, are you drinking Hamms?

Do please tell us how the tracks perform.  So far, that the only thing my Tarpon had that I wish the Revo had.

I'm rigging my Oasis Tandem.  It has such narrow deck space I am really nervous to try to mount my normal flush deck scotty bases, lots of rigging under the deck in a real tight space.  These might be the ticket.  Nothing.. how wide are the tracks (outside edge to outside edge)?  How wide are the screw holes (outside edge of hole to outside edge of opposite hole)?  If I used the 4in length will two screws on a side really be secure enough to handle a rod holder when trolling with heavy lead/current or when a salmon slams the rod?  I normally through bolt with fender washers, four little screws make me nervous.

With all those screws, that's hardly "a few holes"!  Very cool, nice looking system, though.  Price is good too.  Makes me consider replacing the bar on my Revo.  The tracks are aluminum with the rows of screws separated by 1-5/16".  Overall the tracks are 1-3/4" wide, so they would fit on the Revo gunwales alongside the mirage drive, but not on the gunwales along the cockpit.  The more I look at them the more I like them.

With the 4" model, seems like a good idea to replace the included screws with machine screws so you could back the opposite side with a washer/nut combo, or cutting board + washer/nut.  I'd probably do that with all of them, and skip putting 8, 12, or 16 holes in the hull.

How ever one mounts the tracks be careful of the rudder up/down control cables.  On a Revo these rudder cables run just under the gunwale along the side of the mirage drive.  Having screws or nuts or whatnot in the area may cause rub wear on the rudder deployment cables.

Would that RAM ball knock loose if you were to bump the rod holder and make it rotate CCW?

The tracks are strong, real strong.  I know I tried to pry one off a piece of a kayak that was last summer and it was going nowhere.  Hold up for a few though, becuase Luther has already made a prototype rail that is much narrower in diameter.  What is nice about the GearTrac as it is now is that there is a bit concave, so it will bolt nice and flush to the gunwhales of most kayaks...  Fits real nice on the outside of a Trident, just above the decklines....

I'll get some more measurements tomorrow, and for those that I run into at the Sportsmens show tomorrow, I'll bring a couple with me...

Craig... I'll have to look at how the things work out the the RAM mounts... its not something I've noticed yet, but I'll see what it takes to make things go wrong....

oh, yeah, and a bit of what i did today...

I like where you are going with the drift anchor.  I really can't wait to see your new toy fully rigged and on the water.

Just a heads up, Next Adventure should have some YakAttack gear in the shop in the next week or 2.  Some of the items include, gear tracks, screw balls, mighty mounts, visipole II's and visi carbon pro flags.

Now that I know Luther is working on a narrower track I may hold off on buying as many sections of GearTrac as I originally planned.

Finished it out today...  just need to pick up the right anchor, though the setup handled this 15# weight just fine...

Isaac, how does that cam lock work on your pulley system?
Does it give you the ability to drop the rope quick and completely in the event of say a log rolling down your anchor line?

The whole unit looks slick and well laid out.  8)

Funny enough, it doesn't work worth a crap (guessing the rope might be a bit undersized) but I didn't trust it anyways.  Its going bye-bye after dinner.

You planning to just pull the pin/screw, remove the cam and then put the pin/screw back in?
That seems to be the logical fix as it would keep your rope focused toward the pulley, still.

Maybe slip a piece of small diameter PVC over the pin/screw to assist in smooth rolling of the rope?
