Was just looking at the route I'd have to take to get to Depoe Bay.  351 miles  each way :o.  Anyone from the northern WA area want to car pool?  I don't mind driving, but can't really justify the $200+ rount trip gas cost all by myself.

I have a Dodge Ram Mega Cab, so me plus 3-4 other people could fit in reasonable comfort (back seat actually has more leg room than the front, leather, satellite radio, etc).  I have an Extend-a-Truck support so it shouldn't be any problem to take several yaks plus gear, if we get a little inventive with the packaging.

Bump.

FWIW, my plan is to leave late on the afternoon of June 14 (3-4PM straight from work).  Get down there late that night and then pre-fish most of the day Friday, weather/tides permitting.  Then stay Saturday night for the awards, and pack up and leave Sunday morning.  There is some flexibility with that schedule.  More on the trip home than on the way down though.  Can't leave work any earlier than 3PM that Thursday before.

I will be in LC on the 9th and checking in to camp on the 12th.  If anybody needs sites staked out, etc, let me know and I will do what I can.  Hoping somebody local will be there to fish with me Wed and Thur since it seems most peeps will be up Fri for pre-fishing.  Hoping the weather holds as well :)

As long as the Ocean is fishable, my plan is to come down Thursday morning early, I'd be happy to meet you at the boat ramp and fish with you.

I'm hoping to get down there a couple days early to get some extra fishing in.  I'm traveling over 400 miles so I am going to be in the area for a week or so (i hope).

Hoping my son will fly in Wednesday evening to pdx and we'll head down early Thursday. He'll probably have to fly out Sunday. Wish I could stay and fish longer. Maybe he can hitch a ride back if someone has room. Also hope to hit DB for some practice beforehand (hint Steve). ;-)

Hint taken Ihop,  As soon as I can score a drysuit I will be salt ready.  I plan to be down on Thursday morning also.  Should we hook up on the dock?

On the dock or on the water. Hey Steve, if you ever want to borrow my suit during the week you're more than welcome to it.

I would be down for an early trip down there to pre-pre-fish with enough notice :)

Assuming The Murf can get in enough OT to afford to make the ORC him and I will be carpooling.  I'd really like to get at least one more person to carpool with to help make the gas more affordable.  That way too if The Murf has to back out there's still someone to share gas costs.  We'll be coming from Mt Vernon.  I'd be happy to pick anyone up that's on the way.

At current gas prices my truck burns around $0.30/mile ($4.20/gal, 14mpg).  I figure it's an 800 mile round trip, so that's $240 in gas.  I'll reset the trip computer at the start and if gas milage averages better than 14 I'll reduce the fuel cost calculation accordingly.  We'll split that evenly between all riders.

If you're near or north of Mt Vernon (e.g. Bellingham, or B.C.) you're welcome to park at my place.  I have 4.75 acres and am in a neighbrohood that watches out for everyone.  Half the time we don't even lock all our doors.

I've got a tent that's plenty big enough for 3 or 4 of us so if you want to split campsite fees that would be helpful for me too.  If not you won't hurt my feelings.

Unless things change, The Murf said he probably won't make the ORC this year.

I am willing to pick up anyone along the way.  I'm coming from Skagit County, so that would include anyone from Mt Vernon to Portland metro area.  Gas cost would be figured based on where I pick you up from.

Also, anyone that is willing to share a tent site let me know.  This trip will be expensive enough that anything that will cut that cost down will be helpful.
