Dang! I was looking forward to reading an "oversized sturgeon" report form Battleground Lake. ::)

Could you imagine hooking that thing on a trout rig out of a kayak? :D

It may be too far and is in Oregon, but from all reports Hagg lake has been fishing well. Plenty of keeper fish and some real huge holdovers have been caught over the past few weeks.

I may hit Hagg next Wednesday for a couple of hours on my way to Nahalem with my son.

I have a two pole endorsement so I can fish for trout with my spinning rig and use my sturgeon setup on BG Lake. I may try that Friday. Who knows, he may have a little brother that's a keeper!

I'll join you next Wednesday at Hagg lake. Fish at the upper end maybe?

Steve, I'd love to meet you at Hagg on Wednesday if there's a place for my wife and daughter-in-law and 1 1/2 year old granddaughter to relax in a dry warm place (mall, etc.) while we fish. I was also hoping you'd come to Nehalem for a day or so and show us how and where to get steelhead in the North Fork. We're staying at the Wheeler Marina but there's no rooms left there.

Anyone else interested?

Gonna check on crabbing out by Jetty Fishery, too. Gotta get those CrabMaxes salty!

Paul,

I think I'll try to hit BG on Friday since it may get more crowded on Saturday. Lacamas probably won't be too bad and it's big enough to find a quiet place to fish. Hagg is too far away for me to drive for a day trip this week but I know you work close by. Next Wednesday I'll probably fish Hagg from 10-2 or so and then head down to Nehalem.

FP, we will be at Wheeler on the Bay on Thursday and Friday and may crab and fish the estuary as well as drift or bank fish the North Fork for steelhead if SteveHawk leads the way or divulges his spot.

I'll be fishing the North Fork as well as the bay while I'm down, wouldn't mind showing you a couple spots.  The NFN definitely isn't a river we'd be floating, as the lower section is the only navigable stretch, not to mention the various waterfalls along its course  ;)  There's some good bank spots though, hopefully the river will start coming down by then

The North Fork is about done for the season. Ran into some old salts that fish it regularly and they are moving on to new rivers. You can try up by the hatchery for a few stragglers or natives. The mouth of the Salmonberry might be an interesting place by now.  Since the road is washed out you would have to come in from the Spruce Run side. The south side is all private.
They have just stocked the Vernonia Pond and Lakes (headwaters of the Nehalem) with Leftover steelhead and rainbow trout this week.  If you want to catch fish this might be the place to go and is just a little out of your way to the Nehalem mouth.

Somehow here im feeling my thread got hijacked? ::)
Im good with it, just make sure you include me, im still waiting for my fist kill in a yak... :'(
My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.
