Weatherman says 63 and sunny, ill be out there 9:30 ish till 2-3 looking for my first kill on a yak !
My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

Hey Wascaly! How did you do? I was out Saturday and only got nibbles bouncing green powerbait worms off the bottom but no love overall.

Well it was a great day sun was out, but the fish were sleeping, second outting for the yak no fish !
Went to lacamas lake the next day bunch of people fishing no one catching anything, including me!
that makes 3 times out and no fish....perhaps my yak needs an exorcism ?

I don't think so. Battleground has been bone dry for everything except power bait. Pretty lame :/ we need a less fished lake. Ever tried Pine Hollow in Hood River?

To fish is human. To throw back is Devine.

Pine Hollow is by Wamic and still pretty cold this time of year. It's also a bit of a drive from Vancouver (quickest to go through The Dalles). You can probably find better fishing in the lakes off of highway 14.    Try Icehouse, Ash or Tunnel this time of year.  All were stocked in Jan or Feb. Taylor lake on the Oregon side in The Dalles is also an option.  All of these lakes should be a bit warmer than Pine Hollow.

I've wanted to try Tunnel. Have you ever fished it?

Some large brooders in there and some medium sized ones.  They tend to hang out in the submerged pileings in the SE area of the lake.  Try flies or something you don't mind loosing to a pileing.

Just want to make sure you get to the correct lake.  Tunnel is about a mile further East than Drano.

Drano should be almost boat free right now.  Only 12 springers total have gone over Bonneville.  When you see numbers approaching 1,000 a day over Bonneville and the lower river is closed..... that's when the aluminum hatch will be in full force.

Oops, you're right. Any chance for steelhead at Drano? Wish I could remember the water temp from last Friday, too cold for bass or walleye?

Steelhead are a Summer thing at Drano.  July-Sept.  When the Columbia starts hitting the high 60's steelhead fishing can be very good.

Walleye are picking up with the warming Columbia temps.  All the reports I've been hearing have been well above the John Day.  You could probably pick up some smallmouth and maybe walleye in the Bonneville pool if you fished slow enough.

Hop sounds like it may be too early for Drano and Tunnel. Want to try a different lake?
