Planning to park in that little lot.  May require some man-handling of the yaks.  Worse comes to worse, I'll drop boats at the marina, then park the park.

Do you mean that getting yaks from the parking lot to the water is tight, or finding space in the parking lot is tight?  We'll be getting there early AM on that Friday, so hopefully there will be room to park.

Yeah, hardly any room to park out there.

Good point Zee.  I count 11 spaces looking at Google maps satellite.

Back up plan for Lee:  Unload - then park at the airport.  1/2 mile walk back to the launch.  Free first 24 hours and only $2 per day after that.  Bam.

Seems likely.  If so, that would work well.

$25 to launch from the Marina.  Includes 48 hours of parking.  Very nice lady on the other end of the line.

Guy that owns the marina has a 1950's  Studebaker!!  We took a pb from there over to Sucia with the grandkid and kids last August, stayed for a week on north shore Orcas.

I am thinking I need to truely test the WAF factor on this one. This sounds fun. I want to look at a property in Lakebay soon anyway. What are the exact times and dates for this one, assuming you don't mind a old NORCAL yakker with y'all. The ocean here in Idaho is just not up to par......lol

Different folks are getting there in different ways and at different times, so nothing exact about the planning.  In general, its Thursday, May 3 through Sunday, May 6.  Consider the water taxi option at http://www.outerislandx.com/WaterTaxi.php  That way you won't be so reliant on good weather because its a mixed bag that time of year.  I hate to see you come all that way and be disappointed.

An ebb tide against the the wind presents challenging conditions at Parker Reef, if you peddle/paddle over from Orcas.  Check the current strength for the time you are planning to go and the wind forecast.
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

If you're curious about the specific currents in the area, you can take a look at this:  http://www.deepzoom.com/#/Views/Boat.xaml

Noon or noon-30 Friday is when I'd like to head across to the island.  Will have to figure in the wind, but hopefully there won't be too much of that.
