Anybody tried/run one? How's the durability? I've been debating building my safety flag / pole combo myself or getting one of these.

Great product, lots of folks use them.  They are just not tall enough for my tastes when using them offshore.  I run almost an 8ft flag (fiberglass ATV whip) when fishing offshore and have had guys tell me its "disappeared" behind big swells before.  For flat water the Visipole is a great option and if they made a taller model I'd put one on every kayak I own.

I love my visipole.  I worked on building my own for a while but had problems with heat dissipation and durability.  Like Pelagic said, it's a little short for offshore and though you can easily add sections to the pole, the weight of the electronics will bend the crap out of all that lever-arm.

That said, a 4 foot increase in visibility is much better than no increase in visibility.

Taking that 1 step further, the primary benefit is the safety flag and a $10 ATV penant will do the job all day.

I jam it between the zip ties that hold the PVC pipes to my milkcrate.

My flag is currently mounted halfway between the Carver boat launch and Riverside County Park. :P

Prior to the change in mounting locations it was mounted like Spot has his mounted.

I use a Visicarbon pole with an extra section to make it taller.  Works great for me.

Give Luther a call at YakAttack.  He can/will send them.

ThreeCreeks,
If you ever make it up to Portland, Next Adventure now stocks the Visipole. I'm really liking what Polepole said about adding another section to the VisiCarbon though.

I will have to do that.

Last year was my first yak fishing year. I've spent a bit of time being tossed around in the surf in the F-N-D.. Looking to expand my horizons in the salt so I'm finishing up the ocean punch list...safety flag is the last thing..last but not least :)

I purchased the VISIPole II™ the first day they were in a Next Adventure. It's a great product.

I did break mine on the poor landing in PC.
I contacted YackAttack about the durability of the product and if rolling the kayak should break the VISIPole II.

The response was yes it will break just like a fishing pole would break... but send in what left of the VISIPole II and we will replace it. Luther suggested that I upgrade to the CarbonPro.

The email response as fast (30 seconds) and the replacement offer was beyond what I would expect.

So, I decided to go the ATV whip route. Found a collaspible 7 footer on eBay with a yellow and orange and black flag w/a reflective border for $35 including shipping. Parachute corded orange pole. Good surface area. Saved $65 which I used to double up on the 12v batteries. I'll let you all know how it looks when it arrives.
