One of our "former" members, which shall remain nameless, once said to me, "If you ever see me pedaling one of those goddamn things I want you to kick me square in the nucking futs!"

Barring an injury that forces me to pedal, I think the same goes for me. Hobies are marvels of design and engineering and all, but I love to get my paddle on.

It all comes down to personal preference, please don't misconstrue my post as a statement of take your "hands free" fishing and stick it, or suck it "darksiders." Do what makes you happy and catches you fish.

I still paddle....backwards.  ;D

Ha!  Actually, I still paddle.  I have three paddle powered kayaks and an Ark sized cedar strip Canoe that can fit the whole famn damily.  I am also thinking of an inflatable for traveling.  Actually, if we do that Waterman games thingy this summer and we have to pick up a yak and run down the beach to put it in the water I will be sprinting past you all with a 35 pound 15 foot cedar strip yak I built for a friend.

Color me a paddler.

Would I ever peddle?  Maybe.  But, I don't like the thought of relying on all those cams, gears, chains, ball joints etc, when a mile or more offshore.

As a beginner (and Hobie owner) I sincerely doff my chapeau to all you paddling fisherfolk. The skill required to manage all the aspects of your craft, rod, net, camera, etc. to successfully land and document a little rainbow is way over my head. I can't imagine how you handle the seriously large fish I see posted here.

You have my greatest respect. Paddle on!

I find my paddle mini-x a much more versatile platform for floating the shallower upper Kenai River.  It's a gravel bar to gravel bar kind of deal but I'd b afraid of bending my mirage drive fins.  Ive caught some nice kings and rockfish in the saltwater off of it too!

Yo!  Another paddler here!

The mirage drive is an absolute ingenious design.  It made the already excellent fishing platform, SOT Kayak, even better.

However, I am still in love the simplicity of the paddle and the feel of the water through my Carbon Fiber paddle.

Still paddling, making stealth like splashes on the surface, and Counting bodies like sheep

I'm a paddler!  Not that I wouldn't hop in a Pedal Car if I could afford it :P

The Pedal Option would be real nice on a few bodies of water around here where you need to paddle a couple miles just to start the "good" fishing.

I love paddling a nice hull with my coryvreken.  Fishing hands free is pretty badass though.
