Here's a cheap solution that I've been using that's saves a little $. I clamped an old 4' aluminum handle from a broken fishing net to a Ram revolution rod holder with stainless steel clamps on one end. On the other end I use the GoPro handle bar accessory to attach the camera to the handle on the other end. Aluminum is great because it doesn't bend or bounce like PVC.

Its a nose plug for free diving.  ;D

Actually, it locks your camera onto the base it's snapped onto.  Look at its shape compared to the part on the lower right. It would slide in from above (in the picture) the piece (like a puzzle piece).  The round part is the "leash" for the white piece.  Although, it would work as a nose plug in a pinch (pun intended).
