Wonder if anybody would have any input about this rudder. It appears to be intended for SINKs, but its stowage/deployment operation fits well with a project I'm working on. I would be installing it on a T13.

Any thoughts or or experience appreciated.

it should mount up to a T13 no problem. In fact, I'm pretty sure I first saw it on a Trident.

They work great too, and the stowage/deploment operation you mentioned is silent, which is something I really like about it.

Thanks for the reply. Thats encouraging to hear.
I suppose my my next concern would be durability. I can at times be ignorantly rough on gear.

If my math is right they are about the same total price. You'd just have to buy everything separately off the Duckworks site.

.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

I'm been building a sink and have included a Carbon fiber rudder, checkout this site;

The controls are from Duckworks.

The main appeal of the Tru-course in this case is the retracting and deployment method reduces the overall length of the rudder from the stern of the yak. Thus, if say a river anchor system were mounted, it could be kept closer to the stern than if the more common rotational rudders were used. Not to say there won't be any modifications to achieve an acceptable distance for the anchor.

The second appeal is that I can purchase in parts to facilitate options as I go. If my project turns out to be a complete failure, which odds are in favor of, I can complete the rudder package and nobody has to know  what nonsense I put myself through. And paid fair price for a rudder.

If you know of other rudders of this type, post em up. I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have never used this rudder, but the Sea-lect  designs rudder control foot braces are great.  I paired them with a Hobie twist and stow rudder sysem for a wooden SOT kayak I built.  I made my own mounting bracket for the Hobie rudder and I used downrigger cable for control cables. The whole system was about $110.  I think the rudder you are looking at is a much easier install.  I may use that system on the next yak i build.

Wooden SOT? Pics? Just gotta love the character and authenticity of wooden boats.

I'll likely end up with the Sea-Lect foot braces. I had another brand in mind but for the life of me I can't seem to find them again. Just about anything has got to be better than the T13 foot braces.

The mounting of the Sea-Lect rudder should adapt well to a custom bracket i have in mind.
