there is a stohlquist on local craigslist for what seems to be a good price- the ad says lightly used, good condition, comes with a new gaskt set, which it will need- is this something that i could send back to the factory, or somewhere else, where it could be reconditioned and tested? any thoughts y'all? i've wanted one for a while so i could take advantage of some more cool weather fishing, and this seems like it might be a cheap way in? or is this an example of why buying new costs the same or more than buying used?  thanks for your thoughts.

Flounderer. I bought my Kokatat Super Nova suit described as never used and guess what?
It was brand new and shipped for free to me but it was bought at a killer price from another Or. club member=more trust. I would go look at the suit 1st if local. If not available to look at, buyer beware.

+1. Also if you're local go to next adventure big sale tomorrow. You may be able to get a new one for not much more.

Check out the drysuits on Outdoorplay.com.  As a member here there's a coupon code for 15% off.  There are ways to get 20% off coupon codes.  I used a 20% off code when I got my drysuit, liner and booties.  Saved enough that it was actually a slightly lower price as a "clearance sale" price I'd seen for a more local store.

If you get a used drysuit make sure it has a relief zipper.  If it does not ... well, you can imagine what might have occurred inside ...

Dry suits can be pressure tested and fixed but it can get spendy.  ;D ;D

Most of the Dive shops in your area would have someone who does it for them.

The seal replacement can cost around $50 for neck and wrist.

If you can look at it first turn it inside out and inspect all the seams.

Good luck!

demonick---don't tell us how you know about the pee zip issue!!!

I'd ask for a couple of day trial with a used suit, you really need to take it to a pool and test it.    I'd pass on this one, replacing gaskets is a PITA, unless the price is less than 1/2 price of new.  It's hard to beat the
Kokatat , at around $400 counting the various discounts.

Yeh i got lucky buying the used one from Peter. The man took great care of his gear. no holes, no wear, and the gaskets are nice and tight still. bet it was only used or tried on two or three times.

Follow Kallitypes advice. Wish i had his experience.

Is that $50 per seal ?
I had done a little bit of research for online repair services and prices were typically $60 to $80 for neck and $30 to $50 for wrist and ankle seals.  Several required a non-optional pressure test be performed with any seal repair / replacement which would cost an additional $60 or more.
I purchased the seals to do it myself and have been procrastinating the project

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

I do remember those video's and that thread.   I believe I posted the videos regarding the removal of the old seal.   It is just a mater of procrastinating and fear I will mess up having never done it before.
