It came up in the other discussion ... I'm wrestling with weather to continue supporting Tapatalk.

From a user perspective, it does make things easier to read on a small handheld device.  Although with the recent updates to the site, it isn't as hard anymore to view it from a mobile browser.

But from an owner/admin perspective, it really sucks.  We have no creative control over the look and feel of the site.  And yes, we have very little control over advertising.

My stats say less than 5% of the visitors are using Tapatalk.

Anyway, just wanted to give you a view into my head.

If less than 5% of visitors are using it, then why does it suck so bad?  Those of us that do use it, love it.

It obviously doesn't have the usefulness of the complete site, as seen from a regular browser, but for on the go, it rocks.

Because that % is growing.

Because that figure is calculated in a different analytics system, Tapatalk's own, and not integrated in other site management systems.

Because I don't know if I trust that figure.  It doesn't have a "stamp of approval" like Google Analytics does.

Personally I would be really bummed if we didn't have Tapatalk for the forum. 99% of my forum usage is done from Tapatalk because i like the feel and format so much better than the browser version. I really hope we continue to use Tapatalk.
I think 5% is really low. Those figures gotta be wrong.

Digging into the Analytics more.

17.2% of visits are from a Mobile Platform.

Further breakdown:

6.8% of users are on an iPhone.
5.7% of users are on an iPad.
The other 4.7% are on other mobile devices.

Now, these numbers likely do NOT include Tapatalk, as that is routed through a server somewhere.

Big thumbs up for Tapatalk from a users point of view. I use it every day.  :banjo:

I also really like tapatalk. Although I can see how 5% of total visits are made on it, I wonder what percentage of active users are using it? Is it possible to see the total posts made using tapatalk?

All of my visits here and 90% on NCKA are on tapatalk. I like the new look of the site on the browser but tapatalk is extremely convenient and a lot easier on the eyes to read on an iPhone.

Yeah, it sucks, but it will have to do for now.  Perhaps later in the summer I'll experiment with custom mobile themes that still afford me some level of creative control but have the user friendliness that tapatalk does.  For another day ...
