I forgot to add that I really love my Scotty Orca rod holder. It's kind of chunky, but built to last, and it is very convenient to be able to lift straight up and commence reeling.

Doesn't that type of rod holder put the butt end of the rod too close to the mirage drive pedals without extension arms? That's the main reason I chose tube style holders. The RAM Revolution Tube Rod Holders

If you troll off the right side, then put your rod on the left side of the boat, and rotate the holder one notch forward, and about 45 degrees up.  This will keep the road well clear of the mirage drive, and as a bonus, will reduce pull to the side when trolling larger presentations and/or downrigging.

I'm in the same boat as I need to get two rod holders setup on the Oasis for the two-pole endorsement.

I like what ravdakot has done.  How hard is it to put a pole in the holder from the seated position with that setup?  Would a Ram Revo holder on a ball mount be better than a flush mount to get the pole closer to you and then you can move it out of the way for a self entry?

It's not bad at all. You just straddle the boat. Seem s odd when you talk about it, but once you do it once or twice it becomes natural and you do it quickly without even thinking about it.

I've not had any interference with the drive, but I have hit my FF that I mount on a RAM with a wedge ball in the sail mast hole. Also, I do use the extenders. If if didn't mount my FF there I wouldn't need the extenders, and it would not interfere with the drive. They would have to be angled at a 45 to get in my way.

Ah....excellent bit of advice! This method should work well with my RAMs too. Thanks.
