Sorry i tried making this a pm but tapatalk is malfunctioning and im 300 miles from my computer.

Hey how fast can you guys get parts for the mirage drive? I need an emergency parts kit made up. At least need a mast for the turbo fin. Maybe 2 if they don't cost much and what ever else you think. I bent mine today. I have a derby in 2 days. I about pooped! But I think I got it straight enough. Also I got alot of sand in it. Is that going to hurt it? I can't tell if it's inside the housings or not or if there is anything internal that sand can get into.

I beat the sh!t out of my drive and long as you rinse it well and spray it down with WD-40 or other lube/water displacer you should be fine.
For the bent mast, just bend it back to as close to straight as you can and you should be good to go.
Having a repair kit is not a bad thing to have either.  There was a thread not to long ago about things that could go in a Hobie repair kit.
Good luck in the Tourney

The Mirage drive is really easy to take apart, thoroughly clean and relube.  Be sure to use marine waterproof grease on the main pivot shaft.  Just did mine before heading down to Cali for the GS6, probably took 1/2 hour at most.

I bent mine about 75 degrees and put the shaft through the side of the fin. A little TLC with a vise, a 12" crescent wrench, and a solder iron put everything back in order. Even immediately after it happened, a little muscle power got it good enough to pedal 3 or 4 miles home. The things are almost impossible to render unuseable.

 :o :o

Derby in two days!?!?  I can over night stuff but with all the advice here in the forum I think you are better off saving the money and getting that mast as straight as possible. The drive itself is pretty bomber and like the other guys said wash it out and WD-40 the sam hill out of it.  Sand won't hurt it as long as you give it a good rinsing.

Call me at the shop tomorrow and let me know what you want to do.
