Trolling hours put in= 15, Takedowns = 0, Springers Caught = 0
Headed out this morning around 11:30 at GR to troll some prawns. I happened to run into Mike Allen, the Hobie ambassador, as I made it up to the shelf. I introduced myself and we chatted for a bit before getting back to business. He said that he was out there with Jammer, kfshr and another Hobie guy, can't remember his name. They had been there for a bit and hadn't gotten any bumps. I made a couple of passes with nothing to show. After a bit those guys headed out to anchor up and do some sturgeon fishing. I turned around and continued working the shelf. On my second or third pass I felt a little tap-tap on my rod. Another little tap-tap then... BENDO! Fish On!!!! I started playing him and was making some ground when with a quick change of direction and a bit of slack in the line... it was gone. :BangHead: Couldn't quite reel fast enough.

Trolling hours put in= ~17, Takedowns = 1, Springers Caught = 0
I had to get that $%&#$ fish. I rolled back down and went back to work. I continued to work it for a while and Flying Portagee has shown up. More passes more nothing, I'm a little frustrated and really disappointed with myself. And on top of it all I've snagged up and broken off my prawn setups and forgot to bring leader to tie more. Well, let's take a break, take your mind off the beauty that broke your heart, there are plenty of fish in the river. Let's try for some bass (yeah I know probably still a little early).

Trolling hours put in= ~19, Takedowns = 1, Springers Caught = 0
I go for bass and get skunked.

Trolling hours put in = ~19, Take downs = 1, Springers Caught = 0
I've got some kwikfish with me...I decide that I'm going to give it a go with that and try a couple more passes then call it a day. I head over to the shelf, Doughboy and Rawkfish are trolling it as well.

Trolling hours put in = ~19.5, Take downs = 1, Springers Caught = 0
Almost through my first pass, I feel it... tap-tap... tap- SET-IT!!!! FISH ON!!!!! I'm working him. This one is not getting away. I get him worked up to the surface and go for my net. CRAP!!!!!! I forgot to extend it after I was under the trees going for bass. I've got one hand working on getting my net extended while my other is playing this bad mama gamma. I'm half debating just using it as is. Too late it's pulling out line. I get the net set and I'm back in the fight. I get him worked back up to the surface and finally with a extended net I scoop my first springer out. 34.5" and 18lbs.

Trolling hours put in = ~19.5, Take downs = 2, Springers Caught = 1

Congrats. Your math is a bit off though, you have 2 take downs and 1 springer caught.
Did Noah disown you when you showed him the fish?

Nice fish!  Way to keep after it.

This rain and colder weather has dropped the river temp a bunch, don't give up on springers yet, there have been some good bites happening in the last few evenings.
