Hello, I'm Ed.  Owner of lots of inflatable river drifting, flat water fin kicking craft, but no kayaks...yet.  Friends from Washington Fly Fishing dot com told me this is the place to go for the goods.  I'll be reading as much as I can here and there so that I'm making some informed decisions.  My intent is to get myself a kayak which can serve for fishing and maybe have one of my fishy chicks along.  Both my daughters will be in a kayak camp this summer, if I can get the schedules to fit.  Maybe we all get some inexpensive introductory boats to enjoy some more family time on the water.  The three of us fly fish, me, and each of my daughters, now 7 and almost 9.  Enough from me.  Anyone who has any tips, recommendations or don'ts feel free to send them my way.
Kayak fishing?  I have no clue, but I'm doing it.

welcome! my advice: don't spend too much money. bargain shop as much as you can! I've been on a hunt for deals for two months and have spend close to 300 on the necessary accesories alone and have yet to come across a deal on my target kayak.. be patient for the things you need and research as much as possible before you make purchases. but most importantly, have fun

Welcome Ed. You've come to the right place. If you've got a question don't hesitate to ask. Our search function might answer a question or two as well as someone may have asked the question before.
Good to have you aboard.

Thanks for the fast input gents.  Right now the Mrs is most interested in finding a SUP.  She tried one on a retreat recently and loved it.  I"m thinking that I'm not too interested in a SUP, but a kayak could be cool.  I was looking at a self bailing inflatable kayak from Saturn.  I've got a 12' raft/kayak from Saturn and the girls and I use that in the lakes and it has really held up well and taken a beating.  I have very limited storage space, especially for boats.  The bayliner, 14' cataraft, 15' cataraft, 12' cataraft, 10' solo fin kicking boat and two float tubes already have me trying to find more storage space.  The girls thought the SOT small kayaks were cool, but one wanted "higher sides".  I"m eager to see what happens after their kayak camp.

I bought a Potomac Tidewater 100 from Dick's for $379 a couple of moths ago for my 10 year old grandson. I enjoy paddling it, too.
