Hi guys.
I just drove 300 miles today with my new trailer and it performed very well. It has an 8' tongue (probably 18" longer than i need with a 12 foot boat) so it trails and backs up very well.  The only thing I noticed is that I had my j bars set all the way to the end of the crossbars. This causes them to flex slightly under the weight which caused the boats to wiggle back and forth with wind and bumps about 1" or so. No problem with the boats coming loose they held on very well. I chose to put the boats out far on the crossbars to free up a full 40" of space on the deck for my two large tote bins to fit between the boats on the stainless diamond plate decking.  I could probably turn my tote boxes in a manner to alleviate most of this crossbar flex. I suppose my only question is,  if I keep the boats in this position, will it cause fatigue in the crossbars in 30k miles of driving? Then what happens? May be no impact.

I drove 65+ mph for 5 hours and the trailer was so light and nimble I needed to remind myself that it was back there.  So far it seems like a great trailer.

Since I am past the age for "camping"(70) and needing a trailer to haul anything more than my Hobie Outback......I finally bought a Hobie Trailex trailer from the Kayak Shed last year.......I can haul my son's Outback inverted on top of my boat w/o any problems....the trailer capacity is 200#...I think this is a conservative rating.
I did modify the trailer to use two, 3" OD x 60" long PVC pipes to "cradle" my kayak....this is much better than the crappy universal pad set that goes for $189.
I mounted the PVC pipes on the factory pads I bought.
The Trailex trailer is basically "invisible" behind my Subaru Outback...trails like a dream.
It sure makes storing the kayak on the trailer easy as the wheel width is only 48"  and I can leave most of my gear in/on my kayak. :banjo:

Yeah, Steve the owner asked me if he could use my photos of the trailer I bought from him last week. So far, I am very pleased with the trailer.
