Well, Just moved down here from the interior of AK.

Have been interested in kayak fishing for quite some time, and I'd like to land a nice halibut or 9 one year in a kayak =)
After searching on the tube for "Washington halibut kayak", of course Rory's video is the number one vid that came up, saw he had a few vids.... contacted him and he led me here. Looks like alot of great guys on the forum, and I hope to learn alot from yall.  :)

Most of my fishing experience has been in the Atlantic, by boat and mostly by surf fishing.
My favorite to catch has always been black tip shark off the beaches, because it lets the swimmers know whats really out there! Although this has gotten me kicked off beaches a few times. Please bear with me if I bug everyone with questions!

Nick

Welcome Nick! We have sharks here too, but they are the lamest, sorriest sharks ever invented :)

I hope you can find a kayak that suits you. Once you do, lets hit the water!

Do you have any experience in a kayak?

I'm in Lacey, and on the water at least once a week (typically more). Give me a holler whenever. I have a garage full of boats too, so if you want to paddle one sometime, or if I have a model your interested in you are welcome to demo mine.

Everyone above that replied are great to fish with and they can show you the ropes. Just ask away and someone will chime in with an answer.  Too bad you just missed the ORC  :-[

@micahgee

Not yet. Alot in canoes and other misc small power boats and some larger boats.

@ravdakot

Thanks! Will have to take you up on that offer.

I got a reply from the lady who posted that hobie for sale on craigslist yesterday, I think I'll try to pursue that right now. I'll be asking tins if questions on gear I'm sure as time passes on.

Cool, experience in canoes or frankly any kind of paddle craft is definitely helpful and applicable. Good stuff

Cool!  $1200 seems like a good price for a 2 year old revo.  Ask her if she has pics.

   Hello from the coast,
 Glad to have you aboard Nick.Were you living in the Fairbanks area ?I just moved back to Washington after 8 years in Soldotna.
 You'll find a lot of great fishing down here.Rivers,lakes and salt water.Plus the water down here stays liquid-not solid like interior Alaska.Start looking aruond and you'll see there are many options for getting on the water.
 Hope you'll get a boat soon so you can get on the water with some of the great guys on this forum.They have a lot of knowledge and are very willing to share with new guys.Take up some of the offers already extended your way.Guarrenteed you will take the plunge soon.And good luck to making it happen.
  Pretty soon the salmon will be running our local rivers.You might consider making a trip to the coast and wetting a line.I'm sure I'll be out multiple times and am always happy to try to help a guy hook up.
Life is short---live it tall.

Yeah, she said she would take some pics for me, Maybe I can go check it out tonight.

@ Mark

Yeah, I was living in north pole, so yeah the fairbanks area. As you said we did have lots of water.. frozen water. I'm still waiting for alot of my fishing poles and other belongings to arrive down here yet. It would be nice to go out with others with experience, I'm sure there's tons of pointers I'll be needing. I'm trying to read old posts for info before I ask to many questions though!

HAH!, if they threw all the newbies out for asking so many questions, i would'a been gone my first week.  You'll be ok. Remember we have a search function, but if you still can't find it, ask. Someone will usually answer.

I now have 1 min and 45 seconds of kayak experience on a used hobie outback, the one that was posted on craigslist in ocean shores :) I purchased it from the lady today. The 'rudder down' string was broken, so I'll need to fix that. I looked inside, looks tight in there, might be a pain to accomplish. I imagine I can just order some type of string for it online. It might be wise to replace all the strings on it, they are a couple years old. The boat seems to be in good shape though, just minor scratches. =)
