Heading out to Eel Lake tomorrow to try my luck , hoping to catch one of the nice steelies i saw coming up the fish ladder the other day.
If nothing else, ill check out my fish finder and try out my lake anchor setup.

Gonna probably be by myself, so getting a pic with a measuring device and holding a fish that ill want to release after is gonna be interesting
See ya on the water..

I'm sure you will do what's right for the fish.  Perhaps put some marks on your paddle, drop it in the water, and take a pic of the fish in the water next to the marks.  Measure the marks later and take a pic of that.  That's good enough for the judges ... we do, after all, operate on the honor system (backed by pictures of course ;)).

Roy I have software that will help estimate the length if you do as Allen mentions.

If you're curious as to what sorts of photos work best take a look at the NCKA AOTY site.

http://aoty.ncka.org

Clicking on the little magnifying glass icons will give details about a particular catch.

I did what was right for the fish, By not catching anything..  Well, except pneumonia, a cold , and frostbite all at the same.. Brr, it was chilly. Didn't wear enough layers under my splash gear and forgot my gloves.
Still better then workin...

trolled  and "mooched" at the end of that finger where the gap in the trees is. The fish finder setup works great. seemed to be showing fish, just weren't hungry.

Way to get out there and nice pic. That lake sure is beautiful! Not a house or boat or anything else to be seen... nice! Hope to make it out there someday soon.

This is a nice lake. small enough to cover alot of water in a day. It was so quiet, all i heard were the occasional Geese honking by and a big tree fell on the other side. It was pretty loud, sounded like a large one.nice Bass in the spring/summer too, so i've heard.

Nice to see a report of someone getting out on the water.  At least I'm still tied for first on AOTY.
