The weather looks great for a Cannon Beach trip.  Too bad I will be out of town I would join you.  Good luck!

Well, didn't end up fishing on Friday, by the time i got down to the coast it was really windy, the rain was coming down in sideways sheets, and the surf had kicked up quite a bit.  So, I decided to leave the gear in the truck, and play around in the surf for a little while @ the cove in Seaside(video to come).

Woke up Saturday morning, and the conditions were a little better. Still raining, still pretty windy although not as much, but the surf looked great. Launched at Tolovana around 1030ish, and trolled my way out to the structure i wanted to fish.  Hooked up with one salmon one the way out, and proceeded to lose it while i was messing around with my net, which hurt double because I'm always so anal about having my gear all ready to go. Lesson learned  :-\ . By the time I got to where I wanted to start bottomfishing, the conditions had improved a little; as in a little less rain and a little less wind.
From the first drop to the last, the rockfish bite was as good as anybody could hope for. Caught a few lings too, one of which was pushing the 30" mark, that decided to all of a sudden go berserk while i was reaching for my bonker, and flopped back overboard, somehow snapping my 14lb fireline and taking my Atomic Punk with him back to Lingville. :(   Hooked into something BIG a little while later, I'm assuming it was a ling, but i never got to see it. After a couple minutes of it owning me, i started gaining some ground on it, only to have it spit the hook.  Son of a.......  >:(
Oh well, all in all, it was a great day of fishing, although I coulda done without the curious Sea Lion getting all up in my bubble.  The last couple hours the rain stopped, the wind died to a light breeze, and eventually the clouds burned off and it became a beautiful day.  No more love salmon trolling on the way back, but I ended up with my limit of rockfish- 2 Chinas and 5 Blacks, and one smallish ling that tasted great on the grill. -Anthony

Here's the video I shot on Friday.  Would of had one for Saturday too, when I actually fished, had I remembered to put the SD card back in my GoPro.  Sorry if the quality's a little low, I set it to mobile resolution

I love it!

Was amazed at how well that orange hat stayed put so well.

Wish I could have made it out there with you.  :'(
