You can never have too much fun!
Well i started out with one kayak, hardly got it home and the wife says where`s mine.....
Found one in Seattle for sale, ;D he actually had 2 and didn't want to split them up so i bought
both of them, planning on selling one, well my 2 daughters wanted to go out, so i took them out, they had a blast !
Now i have a problem, 3 kayaks 4 people, dicks sporting goods had a sale so i picked up there Field and Stream 12 foot SOT.
Now the real problem begins, how do i get them to the water.....
C/L to the rescue, I found a rusted old boat trailer, only problem is i had to take the boat as well, got it for 80 bucks.
Parted out the outdrive on C/L 100 bucks, bunk rollers 45 bucks  and misc dash and steering controls 45 bucks.
Pulled out the seized up motor, striped the Aluminium  and headed to the scrap metal dealer,( through in the old fridge too} 177.00 dollars my pocket as i leave there.  :)
total of 367.00 for everything minus 80 bucks for the boat I'm ahead 287.00
I should have taken a pic of the trailer before i started work but i didn't, the hitch and jack show somewhat of the condition and rust i had to deal with.
gutted the trailer of everything, unbolted the axle and spent 20 plus hours sanding and grinding, went to harbor freight and bought a
new hitch  12 bucks, new jack 29 bucks, light kit 19 bucks.then headed over to Portland steal, 68 bucks in 2x1 tube steal 60 feet.
fenders were shot they even had Bondo in them! cut out the brackets, and bought 2 new fenders 62 bucks.
Misc gal chains, bolts, etc 13 bucks.
Used the track hoe to smash what was left of the boat, hauled it to the dump, cost 38 bucks.
Goggled kayak trailer images and looked around, then started cutting and welding it up.
finally 50 bucks for primer and paint.
total new parts/dump fee  291.00
parted out boat/ scrap steal 287.00
I present The 4 dollar trailer.
My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

That's an awesome trailer for $4.Have you been working with INSAYN ? (That's meant as a compliment to both of you.)
Just goes to show ---it can be done.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Yeah, if INSAYN wasn't wandering Hagg in search of eternal delights, he's likely be wanting some special alone time with your pictures.  Truly an outstanding effort.  You get the Frugal Wali Award.  I'm sure he'll be along shortly with the paperwork.  Again...nicely done!

Nice work. Are you going to wrap the bars with carpet or pool noodles to prevent rubbing and sliding of the kayaks?

Beauty!

How hard is it to crunch up an 18 foot fiberglass boat and are you in possession of said "cruncher"?  I wanna keep my boat trailer, but get rid of the boat.  It has sat by my house without moving for 9 years.  I had thought about slicing it into sections with a chainsaw and taking it to the dump during bulky waste day. >:D

Craig, I can almost guarantee that this club possesses enough firearm enthusiasts to make that boat turn into sawdust.  If WR is in town, we could have some fun.  Drag her to the quarry and unleash.  Sweep it up and call it done.
