Did some C&D today, going to try the new add-ons tomorrow morning before the breeze comes up. If anybody is around and feels up for some exercise.

I'm jealous.  How about Sunday?  10 feet at 10 seconds should impart a lot of action on the lure/bait.   ;)

Guess my Vermont buddy will miss out on salt unless conditions improve. Any suggestions on alternatives? Will try to get him a CR sturgeon in the Willy, maybe steelhead and salmon if there's a bite anywhere. He's here from 7/12-18 then heading up to Kodiak to see his brother who's retired Fish & Game.

Fog lifted to reveal the growing sheep herd. Guess I'll take the dogs and the yak and go try and avenge the skunk IHop and I let loose at the reservoir last time down.

IHop - You and your VT buddy should look into heading over to The Snake for some oversize. That would be something he would tell his bro's back home about over a few Magic Hats or Long Trails.

LB, the worst wind and fog this summer here in Florence today!

I'm thinking Big C in Camas, Powerlines or near mouth of Sandy for sturgeon, summer steelhead or salmon on Friday. Close, easy and lots of possibilities. Anyone interested?

Check the regs about salmon on the Columbia. I think only steelhead and fin-clipped Chinook jacks are open now, but I haven't checked for a few days so I could be wrong.

I've check and re-checked the WA regs and emergency regs for Salmon and Sturgeon on the Columbia below Bonneville to I-5 and as best I can tell it's open until 7/31 for Coho, Jack Salmon and Steelhead. Sturgeon retention is only on Thurs thru Sat.

Here's what the online rules are for WA:

SALMON &
STEELHEAD
June 16-July 31 Min. size 12". Daily limit 6. Up to 2 may be adult SALMON or hatchery STEELHEAD or 1 of each. Release all SALMON other than hatchery
CHINOOK and SOCKEYE. July 2-July 31: Release adult CHINOOK
and SOCKEYE. CLOSED to fishing for SALMON and STEELHEAD
from Buoy 10 to the Megler Astoria Bridge.

STURGEON Min. size 38" fork length. Max. size 54" fork length. Daily limit 1.
STURGEON may be retained Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays only.

The "Special Emergency Rules" for Sturgeon are:
(2)   Above Wauna power lines (near Cathlamet) upstream to Bonneville Dam: Through July 31 Per permanent rule, white sturgeon retention allowed Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays only, 38-inch fork length minimum size and 54-inch fork length maximum size. Release sturgeon on other days.

Per the email I received from WDFW on 6/29:
The early closure applies only to waters stretching from Buoy 10 near the mouth of the Columbia River 40 miles upstream to the Wauna power lines near Cathlamet. Anglers may continue to harvest legal-size sturgeon from the power lines to Marker 82, nine miles below Bonneville Dam, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

I'm confused. Guess I need to call them tomorrow to be 100% sure we don't wind up in the hoosegow. Grrrrrr!
