I'd been itching to get out and chase some walleye for some time now, so i finally made it out to my favorite backyard spot just 30 minutes drive from my house.  I made it out saturday afternoon and worked the south shore from 25 to 10 ft of water and hooked up twice with some nice phantom fish that i never got sight of but felt possibly like walleye (i missed the hook set).  I did, however happen to 1 11" smallmouth, and a nice perch, and 2 small perch.
Having not caught the Walleye i knew were there, I got out there 8 am this morning, and started working in the 10-18' of water out from the boat launch working out to an island and weed line and hooked up with my first 17" fish right out from the island. I got my line back down and started to work this area pretty hard, moving about .8 mph and hooked another  @ 18" after about 30 minutes. that was 10 am, i fished for the next 2 1/2 hrs with only a couple small perch brought to the boat.  Overall a good day weekend on the water.

I got out again Saturday morning.  I caught a 30" Muskie that was released after i cut my fingers up by grabbing it by the gill plate so i cought lay it in my hog trough.  Also got a nice 18' walleye working in 15-20 feet of water on outside weed lines

Still going strong. I got out of work early this afternoon so i headed out for an afternoon fishing trip.  I changed up the colors a little from what I have been using, and 3 fish in about 20 minutes. fished for about  hours and caught 5 walleye, 2 undersized, but i am most proud of my "one over 22".   tight lines all

took my girlfriend out totry and get her into the fish.  I took my limit (first limit of walleye ever), she got 1. we were useing the same gear, bottom walker and worm harness- fished 4 1/2 hrs, all fish caught in 18-20 ft of water.  I think i am going to try to target salmon next week.  will be my first time fishing in the columbia with my kayak.  I have a lauch area right next to where the fishing is, so i think it should be a good experience.

lots of LMB fry and perch fry put the bit off a little this week i think.  Caught fish in 20' of water this week right at sunset and sunrise.  fishing was slow, and the Mosquito's were at epic proportions. I still managed a few walleye keepers, with most fish in the 18"-20" range, lost a couple nice fish right at boat side.  All in all a good weekend.  will be traveling to Republic in a couple weeks for our yearly camping outing, with fishing being the focus.  Tight lines to all.

for the first of fall, and to get away from some of the smoke in Wenatchee, i ran out to Quincy to see how the fishing was.  Probably my last kayak fishing trip for the year because i don't have immersion gear, and next week i am headed back to Iowa for a week of fishing with my dad, so it is going to be about a month til i can get out again, and im sure it will be a little too chilly then.
Anyways, fishing wasn't terrible if you don't mind catching small perch- i caught lots of small perch that i released.  Saturday i didnt have my camera,  but caught 3 nice perch to eat with one easily going over a pound  (one of the largest i have seen).  I also caught a smallmouth Bass that measured just over 16" which i think may be the largest smally i have ever caught, CnR'd her.
Sunday i got out and fished from about 830 am til about noon, caught 1 walleye at 18" and another perch, released several small perch again, also caught some undersized walleye.  I talked to a couple of PB's at the ramp coming in, and i always love it when i outfish them!   I showed them my walleye and they said "thats what we are looking for", they were only catching undersized walleye and small perch.

Nice walleye! I miss catching a lot of big perch.  I used to do a lot of that ice fishing when I was a kid.  What a blast.
