I'm looking to hit some spots in the Brookings area this Friday and Monday.  Any locals interested in fishing those days or have any info to pass on?

I fish out of Crescent City. I think the lings are moving in closer, so you should get some action. Caught one (12 lbs.) last Friday and one (15 lbs.) Saturday. Lotsa fun. Took a first-timer out and he caught 4 black snappers to my three, so I think he's hooked.
First time I fished for rock cod in awhile, as I've been putting my efforts into catching a halibut. None so far this year, but that won't stop me from trying.
I'll keep my fingers crossed the wind doesn't blow those days. Good fishing'

Hey Rawkfish - It may be too far north for you, but if you get the chance sometime check out the Siltcoos river.  It's only 3 miles long starting at Siltcoos lake and flows through a nature reserve, ending at the beach.  It's near Florence I believe.  I've always wanted to try it just for fun.  Something to think about if the oceans too big to fish.

Hey rawkfish,

Try Harris beach state park.  I've never fished but I scouted it for diving 3-4 years ago looked real fishy.  It's a beach launch with a lot of rock on the north side so the shouldn't be bad unless it's a south swell.  Good luck down there.  Look forward to a report on the area.

Thanks for the tips, guys.  Dana, I have fished off of Harris Beach before.  In fact, that's where I caught my first ever fish in Oregon.  The surf launch was pretty easy, but the haul to get your gear down to the beach was a real bummer.  That whole area is really fishy.  I'll be sure to let you guys know how it goes.

Doesnt boxofrain live down in that area? I know he used to say it would be nice to fish with other nwka members on his home waters.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

How Y'all are!!??
Long time no post....sorry for the unattendance as of late.
Jeff called and I gave a few tips for easy fishing areas. He also ran into our local "talk to everyone I see person", Yellow Tail Bill, One of the best fishermen in our area and one of my best friends, I think he got an earfull there.
I am just starting to get back into the Yak fishing after a time off for neck surgery, I will try to stay more active here.
 Cheers!  :banjo:
