So this is the one weekend a year that I really hate.  It's Miners Jubilee here in Baker City.  Lots of people in town and on the local water. :(

I'd really like to get out of the town.  Any ideas on where I should go?  Anything within 300 miles would be ok.  Camping locations would be best......

Any ideas?

Try Neah Bay and/or Freshwater Bay.  Both have good camping, easy access to nearshore fishing and the salmon runs are in full swing.  If the weather is decent its on.  Last weekend was a blowout due to wind and big swell.

Ouch, that would be a mission and a half.  Good luck wherever you end up.

Walleye/bass fishing on the Columbia
smallmouth fishing on the John Day
Odell or Crescent Lake kokanee and Lake Trout (might be pushing the 300 miles for you)

I wish I knew how to Walleye fish.  I guess it can be pretty good in the Boardman area.....  I know I can catch Bass there.  There's also a slim chance of hooking an early Steelhead.

I think I need to talk to a PB friend that likes to fish down there for some tips.

Quincy lkes/ancient lakes Evergreen reservoir for bass, perch and walleye.  Free camping anywhere you can find a spot- not much for facilities- just several pit toilets and lakes.  Moses Lake is also supposed to be good fishing.  Potholes reservoir is also a good lake to hit for walleye, bass, perch and trout- there is a state park and also (i dont recomend because i got a beef with them and do anything i can not to give them my money= poor customer service can lead to a lifetime grudge) is Mardon Resort.

If you go to Evergreen, i may show you around saturday or sunday.
btw: fishing for walleye is fairly easy

Lake Pend Orielle, North ID: jig for macks, troll for rainbow, and a very good expanding sm mouth fishery.
Priest Lake, North ID: Mack fishery and sm mouth.
Coeur'd Alene Lake, NI: chinook and Kokanee.
Bass and pike in this drainage too.
Lots of water in the area.

I pulled up the Evergreen Area on the map.  That's a nice set of water in that area.  I don't know that I want to head into washington this weekend though.

I'm really starting to think of the Boardman area....

Also another great looking spot to fish.  I've always wanted to go fishing in northern Idaho.   I think I'll hold off on this until I have an extra long weekend.  Also, I'd be wanting to have a couple people along to fish / drive with.

Hey! Let me know and we can fish Lake Pend Orille.
Good camping in several places and I can reserve a good spot for you at Garfield Bay.
And, many small lakes within 3-5 miles of campground.
A couple marinas, small store, restaurant/bar in Garfield Bay.

Hey rbchar!  I'm heading out your way next week with the wife and kid and our kayaks. I'm bringing all the fishing gear.  We were thinking about Priest Lake area for camping, but are completely flexible.  Any suggestions?  We should be in your area for 4 to 5 days.  It would be great to link up if you can.

Priest Lake is beauty this time of year.
Have not fished from kayak at PL.
Jigging for macks and I hear there is an exploding sm mouth fishery developing there, like all the 3 main lakes in the region.
I would be glad to meet y'all.
I live only a few miles from Garfield Bay on Lake Pend Oreille and spend most time here.
There is a nice campground at Garfield Bay and public area adjacent to camping area.
Beauty camping at Sam Owen in Hope, too? Very popular site though.
Let me know specifics of your trip and we'll get together!

My brother owns a place in Sagle.  We were thinking of heading out there to pick some of his stuff up.  He just moved to Portland last fall. I have always wanted to fish Lake Pend Oreille from my yak.  I like how cheap the one day licenses are there.

Hey Justin, how about Wallowa Lake in OR?
Last season their kokanee fishery went nuts!
The kokes looked like sea-run Red salmon.
Checkout what was the progression of their state Kokanee record.
I understand the campground is very nice too.
Not bad from Baker.
