Hog and Hogier!

Between working, my tourny and a week long fandamily reunion at my place  i haven't had any time to fish, in fact didn't fish for over 3 weeks until yesterday.

I finally got a day to fish my first Salmon of the season and boy was i rewarded handsomely!!

Trolled the chip pile across from the airport. fished the first three hours and got nothing and the wind was starting to come up and my hopes of catching a Salmon went down as i turned for home to make the last pass of the day. about halfway back to the launch my rod buried and stayed buried and after a twenty minute fight, made that long because of a too long leader which made netting the 25 pound hen a challenge and had to play it out until it, and me was dog tired!

After i subdued and bled that fish i  hadn't drifted too far as the tide was at slack so i still had a 1/3rd of a mile to go to get back to the launch so i retied my gear and sent it back down and started trolling towards the ramp, by this time the tide was starting to rip out on a 9 foot exchange and i didn't even need to pedal to go about 2.5 MPH. about ten minutes later as i was talking to my buddy on the phone about the first fish my rod buried hard! and the second and even bigger hog was hooked and peeling line off my reel! i practically dropped the phone and excitedly told my buddy, "i got another one, gotta go!"

After a good half hour fight i landed a beauty 28 pound buck and my first ever daily limit of adult Chinook! Of course i ended up a 1/4 mile past the launch on a huge exchange and had to fight the rip back to the launch, boy was that work buit i had a smile on my face the whole way!

Not a bad way to start the season....
