Went fishing at Coos Bay with CBY and PNW on Sunday and caught a nice 35" Chinook.  This was my 4th day fishing for fall chinook and I finally landed one.  We put in and trolled down with the outgoing tide right at about slack the bite was on pbr's were landing them and we weren't having any luck.  The bight looked like it had turned off so I switched from a cut plug to a spinner to try something different 10 minutes later fish on.  I also learned why you keep the weight out of the net.

Great video and pic.  You can keep unclipped Chinook out there?

Dana nice fish. Nice job on cutting the weight.

Watching the video made me think about how I have all my mounted gear on the left side of my outback.

I will try to keep the fish on the right side to net it. i can see how I could get the net tangled up in my fish finder and rod holder.

Nice fish - right on man!

In my very limited experience with trolling, I too have had adventures with swinging lead. Why not hook the ball directly to the slider? I can see having it on a dropper if you are trying to use it to bump the bottom, but if you are using it only to get to depth, why the drop line?

I switched to doing that and it has worked for me.

We were fishing in the river and the depth ranged 5' to 30'.   When I fishing rivers down here I run a 18" dropper to keep my gear off the bottom.  Also when I'm targeting nook's they tend near the bottom.

Thanks for the clarification Roy.  In my neck of the woods it's clipped only and you can't even look at a coho.
