I'm still using my Olympus Stylus 720 from five years ago and it's still kicking.  It has seen plenty of salt water and is well passed its 10,000th picture.  The picture quality is better than many newer cameras I've seen too.  I think you can still find them on amazon for pretty cheap.

How well will it take a beating? ;-)
Hopefully, better that the last one.  I have sought and received therapy since that brutal day at Westport.  The next salmon will be gently beaten.  I have also broke out the wiffle balls and have improved my accuracy.

Craig--I hope you video and share your "gently beaten salmon"
.  That'll be interesting to see.........
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

I have a Canon Powershot D10 and love it.
it has been swamped (left a battery door open) covered in salt, blood, slime and dropped into class iv rapids without breaking.
its a little big as it has no folding optics, but the pic quality is top notch.

I have the D-10 and it is a great camera!  Wife is rather clumsy and it has survived some beatings!
Just remeber to wash it in fresh water after out being in the Ocean!!!!

I'm running an Olympus Stylus Tough (6020 I think) and it's been great.  Drop it, kick it, salt it, snorkel, whale videos.   It's a great camera.

My contour+ took great video in Hawaii, but died at the HOW event the other day.  Power button broke.  grrr.

You really do get what you pay for. Costco sells the Swann Freestyle for 150 bucks. It's advertised as a competitor to the gopro but its the biggest load of crap. I'd go with a name brand like gopro or Olympus. I'm running a gopro 2 and love it.
