Lowrance Scupper Transducer Mount?

I've been thinking about where and how to mount the FF on my new Oasis.   I'm specifically wondering if anyone is using the Lowrance Scupper Transducer mount? 

It seems to be a more straightforward solution than goop, water mount, etc.  It also seems that having the transducer outside the hull would help performance.  Since i have a tandem, it seems like I should be able to find an open Scupper hole and still use my wheel cart....  That said, there must be some downsides as I haven't seen anyone using this option.

Just curious if you guys have any experience with this approach?

I don't use the Lowrance mount (not necessary with Jackson Kayaks) but I do have a scupper mounted transducer. I'd say the only thing to watch out for is making sure that your transducer doesn't extend below the hull of the boat to protect it.

There is the potential for more hole drilling as well, depending on how you plan on setting things up. With an internal install, you just have to worry about getting the plug to the head unit. With an externally mounted transducer, you have to run the cable into the kayak and then back out again for the head unit.
