We (NCKA and NWKA) have the possibility of getting a 2.5 day kayak fishing mothership charter on the Islander (http://www.islander-charters.com/index.shtml) in 2013.  Likely a May/June affair out to San Clemente or Catalina.  That's more of a WSB/Calico/Butt time of year with the possibility of Yellowtail.  The Islander takes 22 people for these trips.  Cost in 2012 was $495.  Not sure yet what this trip will cost, but likely about the same.  Any interest?

Sounds like a blast!  If transport to the mothership wasn't so bad I'd be down for it.

It's on.  June 7-10.  Rather than give info here, I'm going to point you to an NCKA thread.  This trip is an NCKA trip being offered through OEX.  That being said, since I'm the charter master, I'm inviting my NWKA peeps.

Dude that's the weekend before the ORC.  I can't do back to back road trips of that length.  Let me know if the date changes.

Make it the same roadtrip!  Hit ORC on the way back up.   ;)

Great idea! I'll look into it. Would a TI fit on the mothership?

I still need to confirm, but I'm guessing that the AI and TI would present too much of a challenge.  If you needed another kayak to take out, that can be arranged.

I think they posted that the PAs weren't allowed. Other big Hobies, probably the same.

Likely destinations (depends on weather) are Catalina or San Clemente Island.  San Clemente is 68 nautical miles west of San Diego.

I did a San Clemente mothership trip some years ago, and I have to tell you it is simply awesome. The island is very rarely fished with kayaks and gets very little pressure from sport boats, so fishing can be epic - I caught the biggest yellowtail of my life off a kayak there.
Now I'm in the position that if I can't take my PA I wont go, so I'll have to wait for one of the bigger motherships to get chartered that can handle them...
