I got this idea from h20spider on NCKA. He's often fishing on his own so can't get the pics of himself and the fish and came up w/ a great way to take care of that. I did the same but used PVC instead of a Scotty flush mount. I just used 1/4" PVC w/ a T connector at the end. I then used a pool noodle for the actual camera mount w/ a slot carved in it. All you need to do is put the cam in the mount (the slot @ top), set it on self timer, and you've got your hero pic of the day! ;D

Z,

I'm glad to see you have it setup with the camera well up off the deck of the kayak.  The original vanity mount by H2Ospider created way too many "up-shorts" photos for my taste.

That was the first piece of advice he gave me. :D I was thinking of making an oversized one pointed down for a bird's eye perspective. Although it will be hard to pull off I think I'll try it. Now all I need is a fisheye lens and a new camera..... :icon_tongue:

Hey Z,

If you're getting a new camera, you've seen this thread, right?

I have the Pentax Optio, like a lot of us, and it's great, too.

Long time Optio user here. Not really into video. I think stills have a long way to go yet. I'm working on a few different camera mounts for the yak. To be continued....
