I know a lot of you guys have similar cameras so I've been wondering what are some of your favorite mounting systems.Head strap ? on a pole ln front of you ? behind you ? above you ?
I was given a chest strap (mount) with the camera and a 32 bit SD card.So as soon as I get it figured out a little better,I hope to be posting some action shots to share....
    Have a great 2013 all.............

Hey Mark! I use a GoPro Hero 2. The 3s looks really cool. I like the new shape of the lens on the waterproof housing.
I typically mount my camera behind me and to the right a bit using this setup:

http://palmettokayakfishing.com/PKF-Monopod-Conversion.pdf

I modified it to snugly fit the stock Hobie rear rod holders and the PVC holders attached to my milkcrate. I like this setup because the monopod is telescopic so I can adjust height and angles. I also use the head mount option that came in the GoPro outdoor edition.

I also use A Scotty extender arm with a GoPro Scotty adaptor from my front flush Scotty mounts if I want a front angled view.

I'm also experimenting with options to mount the camera in the mast hole but haven't figured out a good method for that yet.

Mark, I made a mount on a three foot long pole (you can also buy them) then wrapped the handle with foam for a snug fit into a rod holder that attaches to a ram ball mount.  Then I can rotate it to where I need it.  I also attach a tether to the rod holder just in case so I don't loose it, just like my rods.  Have fun!

I'd love to get one of the new GoPro 3s and be able to see the image on my iPhone and control it remotely.

Here's a new video I just posted. I use a tripod to mount the GoPro and a Gorilla Mount to attach the Fuji. Of course this was in a drift boat but I think I'll be able to use this in the TI as well.

My old system used a 1 1/4" PVC safety flag pole with a GoPro Bar Clamp but it's a hassel to start and stop.

You might want to upgrade that 32bit SD card  :P

Congrats on the new camera.  I can't wait to see some video.

Nice thread with all of the suggested replies.  I just bought the Hero3 Black Adventure package on the web.  I got what I think (maybe there are better) is an awesome package deal with the purchase of my kayak and add-ons.  Waiting impatiently for its arrival.

I got one too for Christmas,  I use a ram mount in front of me on the kayak. I use the head strap for snowboarding which I am going to be using today!  I just got a class 10 64gb sd Micro for $50 on amazon, sucks that I cant use the normal SD card I had for my Hero 1.

Since my Contour has failed for a second time, I'm probably going to get one of these soon.  I haven't really seen any complaints about them out of anyone on NWKA.

Mine keeps crashing when changing settings using the phone app.  It wouldnt turn on a couple of times in 16 degree weather, so I had to pull out the battery.   Other than that it is a great camera. I would suggest getting an extra battery/or 2, or the battery bacpac is you dont want to open the case on the water.

Now that it is February, I was curious if anybody had any of the issues that are being reported on Amazon with these cameras?  I want one, but the draining battery when off issue, and the lockup issues, seem to be widespread and I don't want to shell out a ton of $$$ for a bad release of something....

If you got a good working one, without the issues, where did you get it from?

So, by now most of you have used your Hero 3 and have some idea on functionality and quality. How do you guys like it? Are any of you using the iPhone app? The wifi capability to connect to my phone was the biggest intrigue for me.

I just picked up my GoPro 3 Silver today. My Hero 2 was doing weird things and REI's return policy is unparalleled. Anyway, I planned on replacing the 2, but it ended up being the same price for the 3 (since they honored my 20% off coupon). I freaking love REI.
