I used to be a huge fan of FireLine, but after fishing with PowerPro 10 years ago, I've never looked back. MossGreen is my preference on color.

Careful ordering power pro at deals that are too good to be true.  They probably are.  A lot of counterfeit PP out there.

Color doesn't really matter IMHO, it will all look the same after a half year of use and if you're fishing past ~30 feet it's all blue anyway.  I found a bulk spool on clearance of 40# high-vis yellow PowerPro and I am putting it on all my reels, even some of my bass reels.  I use a top-shot of mono pretty much anywhere I fish and I love having the ability to clearly see what the line is doing.

I use moss green power pro on most off my reels.  I don't think the color is that big of a deal.  Like others here I watch for sales and buy it on sale.  I've also found if you take your reel to a tackle shop or cabales and have them spool it on your reel out of there bulk you can get a pretty good deal sometimes.  When my line is showing wear I spool off of and then back onto my reel in reverse to extend the life of the line.  As Rockfish pointed out you probably only use 30-50 feet of your line on a regular basis.  I also will use backing line on some of my larger reels.

Does anyone know where to find large spools of braid for a decent price? Or even any stores that sometimes have sales on large spools of braid?

I love using the 15lb power pro on my ultralite spinning rods. No line twist, and you can feel the yellow perch bites even at 70 ft!

I know my Buddy buys his large spools of braided line from cabelas and he usually price shops his gear.

I'm going to have to try that.

Guides and pros and all them folks are usually dedicated to one brand. I've tried the heck out of all the "top shelf" ones and I honestly can't tell the difference between power pro, sufix,  and spider wire. The only one that is significantly different is daiwa samurai. It's ultra ultra thin. I don't know what the exact dimensions are, but i'm gonna say the 50# is around the same diameter as 20# power pro. That of course presents its own challenges, like having to double the line to join it to leader, and being really hard on reels, line guides...and fingers. And it's very pricey. The only time I'd spool it is for halibut or tarpon.  So I generally use power pro or sufix.

I don't have the cajones to spool up any of the cheaper brands. For the same reason I never tie on eagle claw hooks! :D

Ive used power pro for about 8 year, primarily for bass crank baits or top water baits. Color does not seem to make a difference so I use the yellow line on a regular basis. It helps in low light conditions in the morning or at dusk, and allows for longer day fishing.

I have also spooked about half my reels with power pro. All the fish I've lost using it can be traced to angler error... Not the line

Has anyone given berkleys recently developed nano-fil a try?

I have it on a reel and no matter what swivels, leaders, or different baits I try, the line gets so twisted after about 5 casts, it is unusable.

Any thoughts or ideas about this?

I am originally from Iowa, and this place: http://www.ffo-tackle.com/ is the Berkely factory outlet store- their shelves are full of big spools of line.

I used berkely firewire once, stuff was terrible.  I've also tried spiderwire stealth braid, it was better than the firewire, but still not optimal.  I kept the leftovers for use in repairing outdoor crap or general purpose string.

My current role of 65# power pro came from Ebay at around $90  (1500 yards)  Current prices look around $100 to $130... There is some available for $35, as Allen indicated, that #$%^ is probably fake.
