Greetings to all.  I recently received my Jackson Cuda 12, with rudder, and am outfitting it first and foremost for safety, and secondarily for function.  Still need to obtain and mount a fish finder, and all the decisions that goes along with that addition.
My main fishing will be on the Columbia, Willamette, Clackamas and the slough, but I'd also like to get out to the coast once I have some experience under my belt.   Trolling in lakes - definitely in my plan.  I'd certainly like to head out to the saltwater with some veterans once I'm ready, to learn more quickly borrowing from experience.  Have any of you been offshore yet with a Cuda 12?  How did they handle in the surf?  Thanks!

Welcome to the site! I haven't paddled one but the cuda should do great in the salt. Let us know when you plan to head out. Always happy to meet new folks and show you a spot or two.

Sweet handle. Made me chuckle.

I played with the 14 in the surf a bit. It is decent in the surf but make sure the seat is in the low position. The 12 will probably be better in the surf since I felt the 14 was a bit sluggish. I would look into adding another securing point for the seat since it is really only held on by gravity.
Cool boats ... enjoy.

Based in Aloha, eh? I'm nearby in Beaverton; nice to see another Westsyder.  Paddled the Cuda, but only on a lake. Seems like a capable vessel, though. Is yours the latest model? They're nice boats, and I am sure you'll enjoy it. We live by the Tualatin River, ya know...fishing is fun in the late spring. GREAT Cuda 12 water.

Andyjade, yep, it's the 2013 with the RAM mounts, rocket launcher rod holders behind the seat, the new curved seat back, GoPro mount, etc.  It came out at the perfect time, as I was trying to choose between the 12-ft. Coosa and 14-ft. Cuda.  I wanted something that works for pretty much all water types.  I also wanted something highly visible, and they came out with the Limon color just as I was getting ready to order (hence, Salmonyella).

The C12 is a sweet little kayak, and will be able to take care of business in the salt. I really only prefer the C14 because it'll make the long distance paddles just a lil bit easier.
