Never tried fishing with it on, but it is quite fun. If you're ever down Portland way, we have a demo model here at Next Adventure I'd be happy to send out to play with you!

I have a WindPaddle Adventure I've used a few times on the Revo.  Needs a fairly brisk wind to beat the foot pedals for cruising speed.  Downwind only.

Just remember that any fish caught while using a sail kit is disqualified for AOTY points.

I think a sail kit would be fun though.

I use an AI under sail to troll in Juan de Fuca Strait--it works for me. i look for winds between 5-15 knots in the forecast. The routine when a fish strikes is to furl the sail with one hand while grabbing the rod with the other. Once the sail is in and I know which way the fish is heading, I turn the yak to follow and swing one pontoon in next to the boat to land the fish and then crank up the downrigger. Part of the fun for me is learning about how to sail and fish at the same time.
Cheers,

T2, you gotta post some vids of that routine. Gotta be awesome to manage all that including a downrigger!

I think we should start a new competition: WAATOY (Wind Aided Angler of the Year)

Pretty sure I saw Allen say there could be a wind powered AOTY division if there was enough interest.

I'll try and get some up, Island Hoppa. I kind of got my hands full with fish, downrigger, sail and steering but I do want to get pics up. i currently have a Fuji waterproof camera and a Scotty camera mount that I have to put together and get working on the yak--it's coming sometime in 2013. I practiced my fish landing routine on my front lawn with the AI last August before I tried it in the water --much to the amusement of my wife and neighbor. My wife told me"No more Scotch for you!."

I'd definately be joining any competition that included  a wind assist category. It would be a hoot. I'd have some serious competition from the  Zeeman though.
