Greetings- I am getting into kayak fishing this summer:  planning to get a FreedomHawk Pathfinder to use in fresh and salt around Florence Oregon.   we have a "normal" 16' fishing boat for crabbing/kings/coho/kokes but I want to have an individual fishing transport platform that I can stand up on and with room for my black lab up front, I have a 34# electric motor/AGM battery for it.  It will give me an alternative to the normal boat and should get me to more places to fish in the rivers and lakes on the coast of Oregon, maybe eventually the ocean...using NWKA forum to gather info and get tips...cheers, roger

Roger, welcome to the NWKA. I am sure you will find all the info you need to get up and fishing. I live in Florence also, so when you get your gear together, let me know and we can go fishing!

Hey, I've been at it for about 1 1/2 years but I'm still at the novice level. Still mainly a bankie.  This forum is great. It's probably saved me from a lot of calamities on the water just by reading up and asking questions.

Had a Freedom Hawk, Freedom 12 a few years back. A great lake and flat water craft. The Pathfinder with its higher freeboard and weight capacity should be an awesome fishing craft. Can't wait to see it and you on the water.

Hey Rodger! Welcome!

I am putting the final touches on my Bassyaks/MinnKota conversion to my Commander 120 now. I will be ready for a (second) recommisioning in the next few days/weeks. My female Boxer LOVES to go for rides! I've got a serious jones for getting out!

A buddy of mine copied BassYak's design and did his own conversion on his Tarpon 140. He can fish all day without moving an arm or leg. (His rod tip rarely moves, too.)
