Hi everyone,

I recently moved from San Francisco to Seattle and unfortunately no longer have a kayak=( I spent many a morning/day out on the beautiful Monterey Bay and along the northern california coast pursuing (mostly) rockfish and lings from the yak. Fly rods or spinning gear.

So, not new to fishing from a kayak, but new to the area and thus am looking for areas where I can rent a kayak (doesn't have to be a fishing yak, any SoT will do) and hopefully be in relative proximity to decent fishing. Year-round if possible...

Best I can see in the immediate are is Agua Verde up near UW - any other places that would be good within, say, 1 or 1.5 hours drive from Seattle?

Many thanks for any advice, and look forward to getting out there and possibly meeting some of you in the future!

First - Welcome!

Hope you're a lawyer or married to one.  The WA fishing regs are a nightmare.  There is year round fishing available, but you have to be careful about where you are and what you're targeting in a given body of water.

Can't help you much with rentals though.

Ling cod season the Puget Sound usually opens up around May 1.  If you want to come up around the Deception Pass area let me know.  I'll fish with you.

Welcome! That first ling has a really cool blue hue. Always wanted to try fly fishing for lings.

Welcome zs58!  I've got a spare, so if you feel inclined to come out my way (Port Angeles) I'll hook you up.  Good fishing in my back yard.

Blue lings also have blue-ish/greenish meat.  Tastes the same.  Some say it is from a recent diet of squid and their ink.  I'm skeptical.

Ever catch any Humbolt squid in Monterey Bay?

You will have no problem finding fellow anglers to fish with here that have extra kayaks.  A few guys here have fleets of kayaks.    This is a year for pinks so a good year so plan on lots of angling action.
I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't
