We've had a few enquiries about bringing these trips back.  So here you go.  If we can put together 4 people on a trip, we'll run it.

These trips are Saturday to Saturday with fishing occurring for 6 full days from Sunday to Friday.

The time of year will determine what species you'll be fishing for.  Spring is typically a yellowtail trip with a few early dorado coming in.   Early summer brings more dorado, is the best time for roosters, and some yellowfin start trickling in.  As we get into the heat of summer and early fall, look for more yellowfin and add in some wahoo.  Billfish are certainly a possibility.

A typical week looks like this.

Saturday : Arrive in La Paz in the mid afternoon, provision up.  Hit the town.  Sleep on the boat in the harbor.

Sunday - Friday : Depart port first thing Sunday morning.  Your fishing begins.  The boat will go where the bite is.  The location will change from day to day depending on what species we are targeting and where the local intel says the bite is.  You captain is a local captain that has fished the area for 30+ years.  We have the ability to travel as far as 70-80 miles from port, although usually we don't need to go that far.  The boat travels at 6-7 knots which is perfect trolling speed, so even when we are moving, we are fishing!!!

A typical day is as follows.  Wake up, quick breakfast while the boat gets going to a spot for a morning sessions.  Mid-day break, lunch, and possibly move depending on how the fishing is.  Afternoon session somewhere.  Late afternoon, head to a mooring in some protected bay with fantastic scenery.  Spend the rest of the day on anchor.  This is free time that is usually spent fishing the reefs, snorkeling, or going for a walk on the beach, all while dinner is being prepared.  On Friday, we head back to port some time in the late afternoon.   A shower is awesome after 6 days on the water.  Hit the town for dinner.  Sleep on the boat in the harbor.

Saturday : pack up and head to the airport for an afternoon flight.

The cost $1800.  This includes all meals from breakfast Sunday to lunch on Friday.  For Saturday dinner and Friday dinner, you're on your own, which gives you a great chance to go explore the Malecon (waterfront parkway).  This cost also does not include license, alcohol, and bait and tackle.  You are encouraged to bring your own rods and reels, although there is some tackle available on board and we do have some loaner outfits available if needed.  We will work with you to make sure you are properly set up.

This is your home for the week.

The "SeaFortuna" is a 40 ft (12.2 m) Luhrs twin Caterpillar diesel powerboat with a very large cockpit & bridgedeck.

Allen, is this all C&R, or are there options for bringing anything home?

There are options to bring some home.  There is enough freezer space to freeze some (maybe 40 pounds total).  And certainly fish caught in the last day or 2 can be kept on ice for processing back at town.

I'm in!
I lossed out on 2 big trips this year, just found out Howard cancelled Foggy Bay.

May, June & July I can't do.

Late March or early April works for me. Any good fishing around this time?

I touched bases with the boat owner last night.  They upgraded the freezer on board.  It is a 4 cu ft freezer, which if I did the math right, is about 120 quarts.  My rule of thumb is you can roughly hold about a pound of frozen fish per quart so that's about 120 pounds of fish.  I do know you can fit more than 50 pounds of fish in a 60 quart cooler (it sure made the attendant at the airline desk happy when I had to offload some fish to her).

I'm going to guess that March/April is too soon to get a 4 pack together, but I do have at least one other that has expressed an interest in it.  So maybe we can put something together.  I'll keep at it, as I've only just begun trying to sell this trip.  That time of year we'd be targeting yellowtail, cabrilla (grouper), and pargo (snapper), and maybe some early season dorado if it's later in that window.

What about July 20-27?  I know you said you can't do July, but I have 2 people interested in this specific week.  I also have 2 others interested in a fall trip, and 2 others that haven't expressed a time frame yet.

Hey Allen

July is the ORC so, I have to space my trip out. But late Aug or early Sept is OK too. I'm just jonesing for a trip so I threw out the Mar-Apr time frame. I'm hoping the gear I bought for Christmas Island will work for this trip. I bought a few Mark White Lures, I also have a bunch of Yozuri lures, my Ulua rods will probably have to stay behind. But I did just buy a 2 pc Trevala at the Show last night sweet deal at $93.

I love those Mark White Lures!  Anything you bought for Christmas will work on this trip.

I'd focus on Sept.  That is prime time for yellowfin, and all the dorado you want to catch.  Also peak season for wahoo and billfish.  The second week or the fourth week have the best moon phases.

Bumping this before I open up the dates to a larger audience.  Want to see if we can fill with NCKA or NWKA peeps first.

We have 2 dates on the table right now. Each date has 2 people that want to go on those trips.  We need 4 people to book to make the trip a go.  The dates are July 20-27 and Sept 21-28.  Next week I'll be shopping these dates to a larger audience, so if you are interested in going, let me know ASAP.

Allen - I hope you're still running trips like this in 10 years.  By then I might have the time and money.  Sucks only having 2 weeks of annual vacation time, and only one 3% pay raise (for anyone where I work) in the last 3 years.
