ok i feel stupid but wat the heck is a trolley you people keep talking about...and if am understanding this rig correctly you are releasing the anchor set up from your boat when you hook a fish and coming back and finding the floaty?
i suppose i don't understand the idea behind anchoring a kayak seeing as i have never done it

yessnoo,
A trolley is a simple rope loop that runs from front to back of the Yak. On this rope you attach your anchor line and are able to reposition the angle of attachment at will.
You are correct in the assumption that we go back and retrieve the anchor after the fish is landed or lost!
Take some time and study the pics of other rigs, that will help you understand the workings of the system.

Don't let the upgrade addicts fool you.  The only thing that you need in order to yak fish is a rod, some kind of bait or lure and a yak.   I caught plenty of fish before succuming to Z-Landers evil influence.

As for "why" an anchor:  The main reasons are that Sturgeon don't often hit moving targets and salmon will take plugs and kwikfish dangling on the end of your line when on anchor.  There are other reasons of course like drift fishing, bobber and jig fishing etc.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

but from wat i see its the clothing gear and the yak itself that are expensive...ya you can spend 3-400 dollars getting you yak rigged but that doesn't much compare to the clothes and yak itself...besides im that upgrade addict on everything i do so i know how this will work too lol

Me? Influence? Nooooo? The madness speaks through me...  >:D HA HA HA HA!!!!

For real though, this is the baddest quick release anchor rig IMO. Simple and effective.
