I have been using it in my trident and just mounted it to the Hobie , I never had any problems with it in my trident or my predator, I use shimano trevala jigging rods (which I'm thinking about upgrading to something else) and a big lamiglass for trolling and it seems to work fine. If you set the tilt low the rods usally slip right out when you pick up from the center of the rod in between the front and back of the rod holder. But if you have it set upwards a little bit you have to pull the rod up and pivot the back, its not a big deal just easier to me to have it where you can just pull it out.
