Here is an example of PVC rod holders.  Let your imagination run wild ...

Don't think this will work too good for surf launching/crashing.  ;D

I'd never dream of launching or landing my AI in surf of any significance.  The 15' mast totally dwarfs the extendo rod holders, and would be a nightmare if capsized.  Not to mention that it's quite difficult to paddle while the akas and amas are out, so..... yah.  No surf for the AI while sail rigged.

If you move the cross member up to the top you have a roll bar!

This guy upped the ante.  The regulations in Hawai'i allow multiple rods per angler.  How would you like to manage 4 trolling lines?

Dom, I think you are still missing the point.  The rod holder you posted would be awesome while on the water, and would make a good roll bar, but useless as a rod holder during a "Huli".   The rods need to be (((NOT))) sticking out like porcupine quils, or else they will find sand at the wrong angle.

Like Zee mentioned, it will take getting use to the boat before being comfortable pulling rods from the front hatch while on the water.  In the mean time, I'd feel perfectly comfortable doing so on the Revo, with one fishing buddy holding the hull while doing so.

I do get it, and sorry for my seeming density and having caused any exasperation.  Clearly having rods hanging out during a surf launch is a bad idea.  Not everything I post is meant in absolute seriousness.  Some of it is only tangentially related to the topic under discussion.  Some of it is an interesting sidebar.  In fact if one assumes I am half-potted and joking/joshing/teasing all the time the hit rate will go up.  I need to use more smileys.   :)

how about some RAM ball mount launchers... should be able to lay them down close to flat, couple PVC sections near the bow to run the tips into, then strapped to the hull with the paddle keepers....

I'm going to really really try to rig this yak light.....useful, but light.

Thinking Ram mount wedge base (RAP-354U) into the sail mast hole for the Cuda mount.  Use the longer arm for putting the Cuda closer to me, or lean it off to one side.

Then mount 4 Scotty #244 Sealed Bottom flush mounts on the 4 locations available on the deck sides.  One Ram Rod Revolution Tube Rod Holder on a Ram Adaptor Post (RAM-351U) that I can plug into any of the 4 Scotty mounts.  This way I can pop the Rod holder out at any time and move it to an out of the way flush mount, especially if I need the paddle room, or getting ready for a surf reentry.

Just wow...

As a general rule, the price of accessories should not exceed that of the kayak itself.*
